1571 alignment?

  • Follow

I have 3 1571 drives. One seems to work ok. The second one can get a
directory, but if I try to read any major disk files, it fails. The third
can't even get a directory.

Yet all of them seem to whir and blink correctly. I think it's a
misalignment.

What's the best advice for drive head alignment?

Sean.

Hello Sean,

I don't think it's a misalignment..

I repared a lot of 1571's. Mostly it's the upper head that's not
making proper contact.

I'm no expert here but try formatting disks and savving programs with
the
flakekey none functioning drives and reading these disks using the
good drive
