5.25 floppy disk storage cases?

  • Follow

I find myself with a little time this weekend (yaa!), so I started to
organize my Commodore floppy disks. I am finding that I have a
shortage of storage cases. I seem to remember in the old days you
could get cases to hold 100+ floppies. Not too surprising, I can't
find any for sale online in any size. I know many of you here probably
have as many, or way more floppies than myself (I probably have ~800,
with ~250 originals). What are you using? Cardboard boxes? Music CD
storage cases? Dozens of old storage cases that hold 20-50?

Thanks.

I buy the cardboard file boxes from WalMart and use a box knife to
shorten the height to about 6 inches. Then I use hot glue to put a
longitudinal divider down the middle (a piece of 1/4 inch plywood
works fine). Each side will hold 100+ floppies......and you can still
lift the box when it is full.

That is an interesting solution. Thanks for the idea!

They stack nicely and have a little handle on the front which makes them
easy to retrieve from shelves. Ignore the "Suggested Price" of $20.06. You
can get them for less than half that through Amazon. Highly recommended.

You can find 50 and 100 disk/CD file containers
at reasonable prices in the acc.txt inventory here:

www.c4expo.org//5277
Click on the "here" link after the "online sale
listing" text on the right hand side of the page

These guys used to have a GEOCITIES site that is no longer
running. You may want to edit the CCCC entry in your rolodex.

I get a 404 GOOGLE diagnostic when I click on either WEB
site in my post message.. As you noted the 2 slash site also
works when pasted into into the WEB site field of EXPLORER.

I would use the correction since the INTERNET may get fussier.

Well, either way, thanks, because now I have spent
$65 while I was at the site. :-) I just had to
have 64NIC+ since I also have an Uthernet, soon to
be 2, for my Apple IIe and IIgs.

I wanted to get a USB cart for my Atari 800xl, but
I read many reviews to the effect that it doesn't
'be all that it can be' yet.

Yes, I am a cross-over vintage computerist. :-)

You just got to remove http://www.google.com/ off the address bar. I
noticed Google is having problems with the groups. Some of ones I
posted too have the problem.

BTW, you know we are all getting old when the groups go from library
and churches to a Retirement Community. :)

When http;// precedes all that other INTERNET gibberish
clicking on the site in the posted message works.
Without the http://, I go to GOOGLE file not found land.

Most of the time for rudimentary computer items, CCCC will beat EBAY.

Oh, I wasn't inferring that the price wasn't good,
by any means, I just meant that I spent money that
I didn't need to spend. As with the 2 items which
were aforementioned for the Apples. I didn't really
NEED those either. :-)))))
