CBM 3032 - schematics

  • Follow

Hi, my CBM 3032, late 1979, is no more working. The screen now is dark.
No more *** commodore basic 4.0 ***.
I have some spare chips, but unfortunately i'm no more able to find the
schematic diagram.
Could someone tell me a site where to find the schematic in PDF or sending
it ?
Guidelines are also highly appreciated.
Thank you all.

Huh? Looks like you updated the original ROMs to BASIC 4.0 :-)

Funet used to host tons of Commodore schematics and other useful
information. Search the archive, now hosted here
ftp://ftp.zimmers.net/pub/cbm/

It could be a million things... try replacing socketed chips one by one
first, then check if correct voltages reach the motherboard. If voltage
is ok try replacing the 6502 first, then ROMs. Remove the PIAs (6520): a
broken PIA may cause a black screen while the PET is able to boot
correctly even without them (parallel port and keyboard won't work
though). A replacement VIA (6522) can be found in VIC-20s and 1541s
(usually socketed). Then you may wish to check the 4116 RAMs too just in
case one of the chips in a critical memory area failed. If they are
socketed you can easily test them in another machine (such as an Apple
II+ or a Spectrum) or scramble them. If I remember well the 2001/3001
series can still run with as little RAM as 4K, provided they are placed
in the correct sockets.

Thank you for the great help.
Yes, it is fully upgraded, Basic 4.0, additional Toolkit Rom, 32k Ram, as
well a shiny 2031LP floppy drive.
Unfortunately it has a 9" CRT, not the 12".
I worked a lot (and played too) with this milestone of the PC history.
I will start to check as you suggested.
Thank you again.
Ciao.
