G64/GCR disk images

  • Follow

I know Star Commander is supposed to support these in the next version, but
an updated version seems to have not come out in forever (not to be rude, I
really like the program, but I also really need to be able to create a disk
image with error tracks etc.). Anyone know of a program that works with the
XE1541 and a 1541-II that can actually do GCR reading to G64 images?

Have a look at:
    http://markus.brenner.de/mnib/

As The Star Commander is already able to do 'serial nibbling'
to SixPack-ZipCode images, that can be converted to G64 with
S2G (http://markus.brenner.de/), I assume, that you want to
backupmore advanced protections. These can only be made with
a parallel cable or a RAMBoard. Currently only the parallel
cable is supported by known PC based transfer tools.

Hey Womo..

I've got a XAP adapter board that has the parallel built into it. I haven't
installed the parallel port in a drive yet though. What PC based transfer
tools support the parallel port that can create gcr images?

As far as I can tell, only mnib can create GCR images and it supports
(rather, _requires_! ;-) ) a parallel cable between the drive and the
PC. So the list is, currently, pretty short... ;-) Bye,

I don't trust myself to do that to my only working drive... anybody in
Dallas, TX area that does that kind of stuff for other people? Or is there
anybody I can buy a drive from that has already had the parallel support
added?
