How To Extract T64, Or Convert To D64 ???

  • Follow

I have a genuine, bona-fide C-128. I do not use emulators.

I found a game on the 'Net in "T64" form and haven't God's own notion of how
to extract it. "D64"'s I can handle, but I've never HEARD of "T64"'s.

Can anyone here refer me to a program that will extract the contents of a
T64? Or convert it to a D64?

Any assistance would be MUCH appreciated... :/

T64 = tape image, a similar thing to how a D64 is. You can use Star
Commander to transfer the program file(s) from a T64 into a blank D64.
Then naturally either use the D64 in an emulator, or the well
documented cables to transfer the image onto a real floppy.

If Star Commander is that program that lets you use a special cable to
transfer between a PC and a C64, I haven't got either the prgram OR the
cable, and couldn't use the latter if I had it, as all ports are in use
and I don't dare tamper.

Any other suggestions???

Star Commander will convert .t64 to .d64, then you can use whatever you use
when you said ""D64"'s I can handle".

That would certainly suffice. Where do I find Star Commander? How much
does it cost? I assume this is a Windows program; does it work under
Win95?

Hi,

I use 64copy and 1581 copy for all file handling and transferring from t64 and
d64 to my real 128 where even possible.

Otherwise, I copy the entire d64 images to a 1581 image and use the excellent
geoBeap!

If you are having trouble and need someone to transfer the T64 to a D64 let
me know. I can do it for you. I use a Amiga computer to do it. Never used
Star Commander.

Hy

Take a look at this site:
http://www.geocities.com/cdsixfour/t64ext.htm

I use it often, but it's written in basic and it's kinds slow, but at
least it works !

It's OK, I found a site which has a number of downloadable utilities.

What are "high-level tape images, which are sadly not supported by most=20
Commodore emulators"?

Also, you can get some Win32 and 32-bit MS-DOS executables from

$0 (I think it is 0, or 0, but don't know, with those exchange rates
changing). Since Joe/STA is Hungarian, I think you will spend about 0
Hungarian forints. :)

Give it a try anyways. It has its own mouse-driven pseudo-Windows
interface, a bit like "Norton Commander" or "Turbo Pascal" used to have.
It's easy enough to use, no need to remember complicated command lines
and such.

They are sequential files that consist of the raw decoded data of the
tape blocks. They always start with a 192-byte tape header that can
have five types: absolute program file, relocatable program file, data
file name header, data file block, and end-of-tape marker. The actual
data of program files is stored in blocks whose size is determined by
the preceding tape header block.
