Kids, don't crack software, it may bite you 20 years later. :-)

Hi *,

Just read an article about Strider/Fairlight with the C64 mentioned:

San Diego GOP chairman co-founded international piracy ring

  http://rawstory.com/news/2008/San_Diego_GOP_chairman_cofounded_international_0425.html

First picture in that article is Fairlight's crack intro of Platoon.

Because clearly cracking Commodore 64 games leads to a life of crime.
We should expect more from our leaders (like some Plus/4 cracks as well).

Ridiculous.

Good news out of the whole thing he is Republican!, most all the smart
commie people are Republicans, we think and use our own brains instead
of someone elses. All the people I know using commodore's are.

Wow... interesting story, although I see they fall back on the ridiculous
argument about how piracy costs billions of dollars and reducing it could
create "hundreds of thousands of new jobs." Yeah, right. (Not that I support
piracy, it's just that I've never bought the argument that forcing some
high-school kid who's pirated thousands of games could have EVER actually
purchased them legitimately in the first place. You want to stop piracy --
fine -- but it isn't going to create any huge economic boom.)

-----------------
In his statement, Krvaric dismissed his game-swapping past as trivial.
But for the fast-growing interactive entertainment industry in
California as well as national and international law enforcement
authorities, copyright violations and piracy are very big concerns.

That's like saying you can't run for office because you smoked pot in
high school. I'm surprised that anyone takes the BSA's figures
seriously. At that rate the entire software industry would go out of
business.

But what do you want? These are the same people who think Disney should
retain the copyright on cartoons from the 1930s for all eternity. Sonny
Bono lobbied on behalf of Disney because he didn't want the copyrights
on his music to expire. And shortly afterwards he flew into a tree. His
music copyrights sure ain't doing him any good now.

So the guys might come out of jail right now, cracking in the 80s. Might
be amazed what's going on today with P2P and all. *g*

Wasn't there a saying in the 80s:

"Home taping kills the music industry" while some one added "Home fucking
kills prostitution"? ;-)

Hate to break it to you, but you bought the wrong computer... the Atari
group is that-a-way. Here, take a lesson from a true patriot (C128)...
