I find that reading Google Groups' archives of net.micro.cbm is a great
way to immerse oneself in the nostalgia of Commodore in the 80s.
Though I wasn't a participant in the group (I was a wee lad fumbling
around on Q-Link), it takes me back nonetheless.

Do we have any net.micro.cbm "old timers" with us today on
comp.sys.cbm?

I'm afraid that at the time, I had no means to participate.  I did,
however, love reading through three-and-a-half years worth of posts.
They reminded me of various discussions held on local BBS's in the
mid-80's.

Compiler/assembler reviews... 1541 Flash! bugs and incompatibilities
.... buying hardware/software at Toys 'r' Us ... REL file bugs ...
undocumented C64 and 1541 behaviors ... rumors of the 128 and Amiga
.... terminal reviews ... TERMCAP settings ... Steve Punter's PAL
source code to the Punter protocol ...

It was interesting to see posts from people working in the industry
for Commodore and other companies ... messages from Brad Templeton
in his days just prior to releasing Power and PAL ... Brian Hilchie
on his C compiler... 

On a more personal note, I saw that an old acquaintance of mine was
an infrequent participant as well.

I'm afraid that I'm going to consume next weekend by absorbing some of
the other archived net.micro.* groups.
