Step 1. Buy PET 8296 on eBay for $1749.99:

 http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320083335059

Step 2: Wait a few months and sell same PET on eBay for $122.50:

 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130128193985

Interesting technique.

Well, if one itemizes, I guess it would reduce one's taxes. Never
understood that would turn a profit though.

I'd say amazing technique. Either the first auction was fake or worldlam has
a serious "too much money on his hands" disorder.

Worldlam is Canadian, after all. They are very generous people!
Unfortunately they don't have a good handle on Capitalism.

And you know with 100% certainty that they're the same, how?
I see nothing in the description that indicates they are.

In his own words:

"Only one known to exist in the world to be NEW in the box."

Both are listed as new in box. You do the math.

I see it says Canada but I thought he told us he was in Oregon.

No, he is not. Worldlam (David Beardsley) lives in Bend, Oregon.

What a ridiculous comment. For the record, the Canadian speculator managed
to make money on the transaction.

In his interview with Commodore Free Magazine, worldlam says, "I have been a
resident of Oregon most of my life." Also in the interview, he mentions a
relationship with a company (exact nature of relationship not clear) with a
company (Worldwide Laminate LLC). According to the internet they are located
in Bend, Oregon.

Could it be that another one "new in the box" has popped up, and now there
are two known to exist in the world?

How come this guy is so important to even get an interview? I have never

Maybe "high profile" or "controversial" are more apt terms.

I suppose the interviewer was hoping to shine a little light on the
situation.

High profile? Excuse me, how did he earn such status? Making an ass out of
himself trying to sell cartridges worth nothing at 1000$ and then getting
ripped off over and over again on eBay? What's so controversial about it?
It's all about being a jerk.

I mean, who gives a flying f*** about this guy. As a collector; this dude
just keeps mostly collecting cartridges and other low profile trash and from
time to time gets ripped off paying ten times the market value of a "rare"
item. Shine light on the situation? All odds are this guy is simply a dork.
Do we really need to waste precious bits and bytes writing about him?

I have personally known people like this and they have all turned out to
be unmarried losers who have absolutely no life who for whatever weird
reason will fixate on something to the point that they do stupid things
like pay outrageous prices for junk just to say they "own it". It's
actually pretty pitiful and I always end up feeling sorry for these
people..they usually live like crap in a disgusting mobile home that
reeks of piss and have piles of this junk they have "won" off of ebay
crammed into every room. I'm dead serious about this.

Don't envy people like this..trust me.

Despite this guy being completely irrelevant, I found interesting this
report of yours: it warns people off about how low some "collectors" can go,
but, most importantly, that buying Commodore hardware is the single silliest
investment you can make - if "investment" is what you have in mind buying
this stuff. The market values are as volatile as the wind and there's a good
chance you end up holding piles of valueless junk, sooner or later. If you
buy this stuff your enjoyment, well, that's a whole different story.

Well, look at the ruckus he's raised. I doubt he wanted it (or at least
wanted what he got, *outrage*), but he earned his public visibility by doing
what he does. (There's nothing intrinsically complimentary or
uncomplimentary about the term "high profile"; I was just noting the
self-evident fact of that current public visibility.)

You tell me. I take it that his activities are ordinary??

FWIW, IIRC, it was Christian Lott who raised worldlam to a position of infamy
in the Commodore community. ;-)

Only two out of three definitions apply to me.

gay:

1. merry
2. bright and lively

The third definition does not apply to me.

I hope it doesn't apply to you.....
