HP Flash Drive Monkey Business

  • Follow

I have in the shop Dells and Hp computers.
This new flash drive "HP Usb Flash Drive 8GB V125W" works in every
computer except this one HP Proliant ML110.
This computer recognizes every flash drive inserted except the 8GB
V125W.
I emailed Hp. They said it was defective. Well I have a dozen of these
flash drives. They all work except in the HP Proliant.
I get Access Denied logged in to this pc using XP Pro StandAlone,
Administrator.
If it were permissions issues that would effect all flash drives that
I insert. It is only with this one HP '8GB V125W' brand flash. I could
see the device being rejected by a Dell pc; but this is an Hp computer
with an Hp device.
Is there a solution? Thanks

Hello
I will post the answer to my question (after reading multiple internet
postings on access denied and all those responses) it was eventually
easy to correct. On a working pc that recognized the Hp usb flash
drive I went into 'Properties' into 'Sharing' and gave Everyone -
Read Write Full Permission.

The cure was to 'Share' the Drive ; and give Everyone full
permissions. I post this because I did the usual - tampered with Auto
Run, Policy editor, Registry inspection, Device Manager. All absolute
deadends.

One needs to do the chore on a pc with the ability to alter the share.
On the Hp computer that was impossible because of Access Denied.
