Can clients running in the same subnet as virtual IP of mc/ServiceGuard?
Gurus,
We have been planning a pair of Informix Dynamic Server 9.21 running on two
HP rp5470 servers sharing a VA7410 disk raid. As for achieving HA, the
database service would be protected by mc/Service Guard plus APA (Auto Port
Aggregation). All clients software access the database via the virtual IP
bundled with mc/Service Guard. But someone told me the clients cannot run as
in the same subnet as the virtual IP of Service Guard protected systems,
e.g., the client using 10.0.0.66/24 while the virtual IP 10.0.0.60/24.
However, I never read such related depiction on related HP documents. Can
anyone help to clarify that to me?
Thanks in anticipation!

There is no problem with the clients being in the same subnet as the floating
IP address of the MC/SG package.
If that's how your network is wired, then it makes life very easy. You don't
have to worry about HA routing.
Cheers
