Hi,

I hve been asked to install apache web server on a clients machines.
The machine is a hp l1000 runing hpux 11 64 bit.

Question,
1. What do I need to do to install apache on server. I have no
experience of installing on HPUX, so full instructions would really be
helpful.
ie. what version of apache to download - any site suggestions welcome /
what command to run to actually install it.

Any feedback greatly appreciated. I need to do this tomorrow.

Many Thanks

Gareth.

Go to http://software.hp.com and search for apache. You will find many
versions of it for HP-UX for free. I would guess the one you would want
is here:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=HPUXWSATW216

As for how to install it, there are instructions here:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/faq_general.do#q4

Also, it would be good for you to read the swinstall man page.

Marc

By the way, if you meant HP-UX 11.0, (as opposed to 11i a.k.a. 11.11),
my previous advice may be wrong. There may not be a version for HP-UX
11.0 there.

In that case I am not so sure, but I would check out the HP-UX porting
and archiving center, http://hpux.connect.org.uk/.

Unfortunately it seems the only version they have for HP-UX 11.0 is from
2002, so I am sure there have been security fixes since then. Hopefully
someone else can help you find a newer version that is ready to install.

Sorry if my advice led you in the wrong direction.

Regards,
Marc

Question about PHP port / problem getting PHP to install with apache when apache is already installed
Hi Gang: I hope this is posted to the correct group. I'm having a problem getting PHP to install with Apache via the ports. Apache was installed sometime last year with Perl CGI. Now I'd like to install PHP to use with Apache 1.3. It seems that all the documentation I found suggests that Apache needs to be recompiled, but I'm trying to avoid that. Here is what I did to start: # cd /usr/ports/lang/php4 # make WANT_PHP_CGI=yes WANT_PHP_MOD=yes WANT_PHP_WEB=yes bsd.php.mk # make # make install It compiles, everything looks good. Then I try to find the php...

Apache newbie
I am trying to install Apache 2.0.46 running Solaris 2.8 Whilst inside the directory created during the uncompression of the tarball file, I ran the command './configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2', this did not show up any problems, if there were, the scrolling up on screen made it impossible to spot. The last line of the 'configure' command was 'configure exit 0' Then I ran the command 'make' and got the message 'make: not found' Tried to move to the directory /usr/local/apache2, 'apache2' does not exist. hp 906c printer - cannot install new driver
A puzzling issue - I have paviliion running win xp sp2 (about 4 years old) and have a minor glitch when I print a document from powerpoint 2003. I was able to find a newer driver (from late 2001) and tried to install it. But the printer driver assistant "wants to close" and send error message to microsoft. I have tried several times to do this update but it fails. I tried uninstalling the software from add/remove programs but nothing happens when I try to do that. HP support had me modify the registry and remove a subfolder relating to this printer, but that also did ...

installing Apache
I got a PC with a preloaded OS called Linspire which as it turns out is a Debian variant. I am trying to install Apache 2.2.0 on this. The Linspire support group endorses a paid service called CNR for all app installs and I am trying to buck this. Hence my posting here. I followed the instructions on the Apache website and got the download and extract right. Then I ran ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache There were tonnes of messages on the console and then it came back to the prompt. But I didn't see any directory created under /usr/local called apache. Earlier I tried to run ./c...

HP 3380 printer and HP toolbox installation on a small network
Hi, I wonder whether anyone can help with an installation problem concerning an HP Laserjet 3380 All-in-one printer/scanner/fax/copier. We have a small Windows network of 5 PCs and have installed the 3380 as a network connected device by means of an HP Jetdirect 300X print server. 2 PCs in the office function correctly, using the HP toolbox (HTML based) software which enables the fax and scan-to-email functionality. 3 machines however fail to connect to the printer when Toolbox is run. The browser window shows a standard DNS error message "The page cannot be displayed". On the ma...

Apache::Test, Apache::Request, libapreq, mod_perl. Installation Problem.
Hi everyone, If anyone has any insight into my problem, it would be much appreciated. I'm trying to install Scoop (scoop.kuro5hin.org) to run on my site but the perl modules that it requires have been giving me a huge headache. Scoop comes with an install script that is supposed to take care of the modules (using CPAN.pm), but I keep having errors pop up. I've managed to fix most of the problems by using a combination of the install script, using CPAN.pm directly and manually installing the modules. However, I've hit a bit of a roadblock with Apache::Request. It is a...

Apache installation
I am having problems installing the Apache2 server. I think I followed the instructions, to the point that I don't get any errors, but httpd is not working. What I did: I installed the latest build of Apache/2.2.17 from Paul Smedley in a fresh directory, edited the httpd.conf: entered the path info to my directory structure, replaced all the module names (.so) by their OS/2 DLL names, created one test virtual host, and ran startup.cmd. No errors are displayed, there is a fair amount of disk activity, and the command prompt returns. To make sure, I pointed a couple...

HP Laserjet 5L paper feed problem after installing the free HP kits
Hi, I have two HP Laserjet 5L printers that showed multi-sheet feeding problem. On the first printer, after installing the free HP upgrade kit, it worked for a short period, then it stopped feeding paper completely. I thought it was coincident. Weeks later, I installed the kit on the second printer, this time it stopped feeding paper immediately. In both cases, the feeding pad seems to be glued properly. I have installed correponding kit on the Laserjet 1100 printer and it worked fine, so I wonder if this is why HP does not officially recommend this kit for the 5L printer (t...
