I've run into something that I can't seem to figure out a way around.
On my second trip to one of the worlds, on exiting the Ebon Hawk,
instead of showing the usual load screen, I get a blank black screen.
The only thing responsive is the game's green cursor, everything else
seems to have locked up. The thing is, it's this one particular world
where it locks up. If I pop over to another planet and exit the ship,
it works just fine. Unfortunately, at this point in the game, going
here is a major plot point, so going elsewhere is pointless. It's
fairly late in the game, so I *really* don't want to have to restart.
LucasArts solution so far is to kill the process using the process
manager, and start up the game again. That's great, but the bug's
still there when I load up the autosave. Even reloading from an
earlier savegame and playing up to this point still runs me into it.
Here's my specs:
CPU: Athlon XP2200+
Video: nVidia FX5200 (driver 66.93)
Memory: 1 GB
HD Storage: 80GB Free on install drive
Sound: SB Live
DVDROM: Pioneer 115S
OS: WinXP Pro SP2
DirectX: DX9.0c (installed by the game)

Just after the uprising battle at Onderon, I got called to go to
Dantooine. On arriving at Dantooine and exiting the hawk (party
details don't matter, it locks up no matter what), the game locks up
at a black screen. The mouse pointer is the only thing visible and I
can still move that around (nothing to click on though). From the
autosave (on the hawk, sitting on the tarmack at Dantooine) if I pop
over to another planet instead (eg. Nar Shadda), I can exit the ship
just fine. Going back to Dantooine and trying to leave the ship
causes the lock up to reappear. It's fairly late in the game, and
going to Dantooine seems to be a major plot point, so it's not
something that's optional.

Possible reasons/actions:
(1) A game resource has been corrupted/not correctly installed. If this
is the case, copy your SAVE folder to a temporary location, completely
uninstall KotOR 2 and reinstall it again. Copy the SAVE back to where it
was originally, load the problamatic savegame and see what happens.
(2) The game has fucked-up a script or something. Unless you know of a
way to edit your savegame (I doubt such a tool even exists), you may be
screwed. I was going to suggest your savegame file may have become
corrupted, but since you mentioned this issue occurs with other saves, I
discarded the idea.
Try option (1) first. If that doesn't work... delete your saves and stop
playing for about a week (or at least several days). Then start fresh
with a new character with different skills/feats/powers/alignment. That
way you will have had some time to let the anger bleed-off. That's what
I'm doing right now; I got stuck on Naa Shadaar and never managed to get
the Exchange to notice me.
