KOTOR2: Blank Black screen bug?

I've run into something that I can't seem to figure out a way around.
On my second trip to one of the worlds, on exiting the Ebon Hawk,
instead of showing the usual load screen, I get a blank black screen.
The only thing responsive is the game's green cursor, everything else
seems to have locked up. The thing is, it's this one particular world
where it locks up. If I pop over to another planet and exit the ship,
it works just fine. Unfortunately, at this point in the game, going
here is a major plot point, so going elsewhere is pointless. It's
fairly late in the game, so I *really* don't want to have to restart.

LucasArts solution so far is to kill the process using the process
manager, and start up the game again. That's great, but the bug's
still there when I load up the autosave. Even reloading from an
earlier savegame and playing up to this point still runs me into it.

Here's my specs:

CPU: Athlon XP2200+
Video: nVidia FX5200 (driver 66.93)
Memory: 1 GB
HD Storage: 80GB Free on install drive
Sound: SB Live
DVDROM: Pioneer 115S

OS: WinXP Pro SP2
DirectX: DX9.0c (installed by the game)

Just after the uprising battle at Onderon, I got called to go to
Dantooine. On arriving at Dantooine and exiting the hawk (party
details don't matter, it locks up no matter what), the game locks up
at a black screen. The mouse pointer is the only thing visible and I
can still move that around (nothing to click on though). From the
autosave (on the hawk, sitting on the tarmack at Dantooine) if I pop
over to another planet instead (eg. Nar Shadda), I can exit the ship
just fine. Going back to Dantooine and trying to leave the ship
causes the lock up to reappear. It's fairly late in the game, and
going to Dantooine seems to be a major plot point, so it's not
something that's optional.

Possible reasons/actions:

(1) A game resource has been corrupted/not correctly installed. If this
is the case, copy your SAVE folder to a temporary location, completely
uninstall KotOR 2 and reinstall it again. Copy the SAVE back to where it
was originally, load the problamatic savegame and see what happens.

(2) The game has fucked-up a script or something. Unless you know of a
way to edit your savegame (I doubt such a tool even exists), you may be
screwed. I was going to suggest your savegame file may have become
corrupted, but since you mentioned this issue occurs with other saves, I
discarded the idea.

Try option (1) first. If that doesn't work... delete your saves and stop
playing for about a week (or at least several days). Then start fresh
with a new character with different skills/feats/powers/alignment. That
way you will have had some time to let the anger bleed-off. That's what
I'm doing right now; I got stuck on Naa Shadaar and never managed to get
the Exchange to notice me.

Black/blank screen unwakeable sleep
My MacBook Pro displays nothing but a blank screen. It starts up fine - at least I can hear the chime and the disk whirring away - but that's as far as I get. There's a long thread on the Apple forum about it and it seems to be sleep related. A solution offered there did sort things out for a day but then, on firing it up again yesterday, the black screen returns and no amount of repeating the same procedure which solved it previously, works. The previous solution involved accessing the MacBook from another Mac via target disk mode and deleting the sleepimage file and extensions.mkex...

Linux 9 Bug/Black Screen?
How can we specify during the startup sequence that we would like Linux to just boot into text mode, so that we can trouble shoot video settings? (Linux is going to a black screen after boot, just after the text mode login prompt, when it normally brings up the graphical shell. We're assuming this is due to some problem with the video card configuration.) Right now, we're hosed. -- dwa "da" <da@hotmail.com> wrote in news:10c98bqehtcq30e@corp.supernews.com: > How can we specify during the startup sequence that we would like Linux > to just bo...

Screen goes blank / black -- TiBook (PowerBook G4 DVI)
On my TiBook, the screen has developed a nasty habit of periodically going blank. It "feels" more like a software problem than a hardware problem, but I'm not sure about that. I think that it may be software-related because, roughly 9 times out of 10, putting the display to sleep and then waking it will cause it to come back, at least momentarily. Sometimes this trick will bring it back for a while (i.e. upwards of 30 minutes, sometimes hours) and sometimes it flashes back off after a matter of seconds. The computer is definitely still on because I can SSH in or use VNC just fin...

"blank" screen when calling bound FMP from Word
Dear Listeners: A very strange phenomenon: A single FMP file with 1 record. It basically contains a field where one can input serach terms for Google. Then an URL is formed that opens Google with the search terms. The field with the search terms is to be filled with a paste script step. In Word the user highlights any string he wants to search in Google. The user clicks on a new menu bar icon in Word. The syntax of the Word macro is: --- Sub Word2Google() ' ' Word2Google Macro ' Macro opgenomen op 27-07-2003 door Christoph Bouthillier ' Selection.Copy s = Shell(&q...

Paradox DOS Ver 4.5 screen blanks (turns totally black)
Okay, no scolding I still use PDox4DOS (version 4.5). Oh sure, I use Access too. But for the non-programmer, there's no easier program for creating quick queries. Anyway, I use this old slug on a Pentium 4, under Windows XP Pro. Recently we had a pretty bad system failure and decided to reformat the hard drive and reinstall programs. Everything had been backed up, so there was no loss of data. When "reinstalling" Paradox 4.5 we didn't use the old, questionable floppies; instead, we copied the directory with PDOX to the newly refreshed hard drive. The problem I&...

Hello. I tried to plug my old c64, the power led lits. However I don't get a screen on the video. I don't get any screen really. Just all black. So I soldered a cable based on this schematics (http://www.c64.priv.no/c64/files/docs_hw_avconnect.txt) to use the monitor port.. again plugged the video and audio jacks into the scart adapter and nothing appeared. Compaq Screen issues. Black screen but can see screen momentarily if I hit FN + F4
I have a Compaq Armada 7400 that I bought from my company after some layoffs. I dropped it and broke the screen. I went to the IT guys and asked them if they had any bad computers that I could swap screens with. They gave me a computer (same kind). I brought it home and swapped screens. I booted it up but the screen says black. I went back and got another bad computer and swapped screens again. Still a black screen. Then I tried with an external monitor and everything is great. So I started wondering how I got two bad screens. I then tried hitting the Function key and F4 at the same ...

Inspiron 3200 with No Bios Screen (only BLANK screen)
Hi all, Thanks a lot for reading me and for any help you might give me. I have the following problem on an old Inspiron 3200 that I need to fix up. When I turn on the power button, I see the power light goes on and hear the CPU fan spinning but there is absolutely no other sign of life: no bios screen and no hard drive activity. Just a BLANK screen. I have already tried to hook up the Dell to an external monitor, just to double check that the LCD was not dead, but, of course, nothing changes. My first guess is that this laptop has a "power problem", but its battery seems to charge...
