This may be due to magnetic near your right bottom corner of your
monitor. REmove any speakers or other magnetic material near the
monitor. Or if the crt is not properly shielded you may get this.
Also try to change the direction of the monitor and check it.

Coloring a graph with exact N colors
It's actually a register allocation problem. I'm looking for an algorithm to color a graph with exact N colors, usually N is larger than the chromatic number of the graph. However, the number of occurrences of each color is expected to be the same, in probability. That is, each color is used as roughly many times to color the graph. In the other words, the vertices are partitioned into N independent sets, and the number of vertices in each indepedent set shoudl be roughly the same. This is called q-coloring in graph theory (q=N in your message). The complexity is not exponential as...

Convergence
I have been thinking a bit about how to organize stories. On the project I am currently working on, I believe stories are prioritized exclusively by the customers. I've found that I might prefer having the development team provide input in order to encourage convergence in the design -- in other words to organize stories in such a way as to encourage new stories to fit more neatly into the existing design as time goes on without "thrashing." In particular, I think it would be helpful to explore all of the known "tricky" bits as soon as possible. Now, as far as I am conc...

Change text color for one document.write but not color of all text?
Hi, one part of my website is at: http://www.psych.nmsu.edu/~jkroger/lab/undergrads.html I want to make the date at the top right darker blue. But when I do that, all the light blue text next to the pictures also changes. How can I control the color of the result of document.write output without changing the forground color of the entire page? Note my document write includes variables, so I was hesitant to imbed an html command in the document.write. Thanks much in advance for any pointers.... Best OS/2 Color Laser Printer? HP 2500L Color LaserJet
If Timothy Sipples were a regular participant in these OS/2 newsgroups I'd be singing his praises every day. It was Tim Sipples who turned us all on to the HP Color LaserJet 2500 printer earlier this year with announcements promoting its use and how to buy this \$500 for as little as \$69. And I got two of them although I ended up paying \$100 each because I missed the discount coupon offered by FatWallet.com. But I'm here today to sing the praises of this remarkable and most excellent LaserJet printer. I use it every day throughout the day to print a great many documents, letters, an...

Graph Coloring
I am in the process of developing a new graph coloring algorithm that I think is applicable to graphs generated in register allocation. It is my understanding that graphs that needed to me coloring in a compiler have a significant number of vertices that are of high degree and at the same time a significant number of vertices of low degree. Is this true and can somebody tell me if this is discussed in any journal articles? Robert Sherry Robert Sherry <rsherry8@comcast.net> wrote: > I am in the proc...

Auto vectorization
Hi all: I am currently working on the auto-vectorization phase in the GCC. I have some points to discuss. 1-- How you define the profitability of auto-vectorization phase? Is it just the speed up? If we do not get any speed up over scalar code then there is no need to do auto-parallelization. 2--What are the phases or features in a compiler ( especially in the GCC) that control the quality of auto-vectorization? Thanks JAY. There is a brief description of how vectorizer works in Intel compiler: http://www.springerlink.com/content/fl3l017321p11760/fulltext.pdf According to the paper, alig...

What should I do to help convergence?
I have just finished writing a back-propagation neural network with momentum in C++. I have trained the net with XOR and all works well. However, when I try to add more inputs/outputs to solve a more realistic problem, my network always seems to get caught in a local minima. I've tried just about everything that I can think of... adjusting the learning rate, momentum, number of hidden layers, number of neurons in each hidden layer, etc. and nothing seems to work well at all. Is this common? I'm thinking of replacing the back-propagation algorithm with Rprop. Does anyone have much e...

color correction
I shoot people's artwork for reproductions and portfolios. I include a color swatch and grey step in the image, so that I can color correct the scans in photoshop before printing. I set my levels eyedroppers on the grey step, but otherwise use my eye to get the color swatches right. Is there a way i can use the eyedroper technique, or something like it, to click on the color swatches to quickly achieve a more reliable color balance? thanks ...

Color printing
Hey, I have a Commodore 128 and one thing I wanted to do with it for years is get a color printer to play with. Currently I have a MPS-803. I am wondering if there is any software that supports a color printer for starters, and which would be recomended. I would prefer one that has high compadible with regular software like printshop, Geos, etc. All I know for color printers made for commodore line was the Star NX-1000C, Okimate 10, and 20 printers. I take they support commodore character set. I also have an Apple Image Writer II, but I'm sure that wouldn't work the way I would ...
