I think I still have a 3510, and I have a lock and key set to match,
and a number of the RCA kits to make them into CD-ROM device bays, and
even a F/W conversion kit around here somewhere ...

One Unreadable CD-ROM on IBM Thinkpad 600E with built-in CD-ROM Drive
Hi, Well, I got a CD-ROM disk from an individual, who created ("burned") the CD from her (workstation, I assume) computer from her business's network. My current Warp 4, FP #15, DDK #2, Latest IDEDASD.EXE files (OS2CDROM), updated CDFS.IFS, DANIS506, DANIATAPI.FLT etc., and can not read the CD at all. And if the CD is in the IDE/ATAPI CD-ROM Drive as OS/2 is booting, OS/2 is unable to boot-up. I can read all other CDs that I have bought or received, including with Long File Names (LFN). My CONFIG.SYS file contains these pertinent lines: " rem BASEDEV=...

Just because it has an odd-ball size 37 pin connector, and needs a special card, what makes it SCSI. I have one of those in my attic with my other PS/2 boards and computers. Its common for people that don't have experience with PS/2s to call things SCSI when they aren't. I once worked on a 50 that had one of those DB37 ports with the 4 pin molex on it. The headers were mounted to an MCA slot cover. I can't remember if the internal cable was to the paddle card or what. IBM x31
I would like to be able to boot my IBM X31 type 2672 from an external Freecom CD rom - model Ricoh RW 7040A. The CD is recognised within windows and functions fine when attached via a PCMCIA card. In Device Manager, under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, the Freecom Cable 2 PCMCIA card is listed . Howver, when during boot, I go to Access IBM pre-desktop area and in Information, I see that the CD rom is not listed as an ATA/ATAPI device. Only the Hard DIsk is listed as a device. Can anyone tell me how I can get the CD rom added to this list of ATAPI devices so I can boot from CD. Thanks a lot. ...

I am curious about this. I have been using SCSI since 1989, and I have never know a SCSI standard to reach 100ft. ISTR 2-3 meters was max length of SCSI-I, SCSI-II varied 7 to 12 meeters, and later SCSI lengths were shorter due to the higher speeds of data transmission. Can anyone comment on this? I tend to believe the auction is really for a loooooong parallel printer cable. exwisdem I googled 34L7054, but most of the hits were from that auction or seller. Less than 20 hits. IBM PS/2 (Type 8535, 8540)/IBM ValuePoint
Applicable to: World-Wide Symptom: The 8535, 8540 or 6384 diskette drive fails to read, write or format. The failures may be intermittent or solid. The diskette drive diagnostics run without error. Problem Isolation Aids: This tip applies to IBM Non-Micro channel systems with EMM386 and a Busmaster adapter installed. This tip does not apply to ValuePoint 6382/S or 6384/D with flash EEPROM level 51A (L6ET51AUS) or higher. Either of the following methods may be utilised to determine if there is a compatibility problem with EMM386* memory manager and the Busmaster option adapter: 1. Removed EMM386 or 2. Remove the Busmaster option adapter. If in doubt as to which adapter is a Busmaster. Remove all option adapters. If the diskette drive failures continue after removing EMM386 or removing the option adapters, this tip does not apply. Note: Other memory manager software which operates similar to EMM386 may also require the Zero_DMA.SYS driver. Fix: If the diskette drive functions correctly after removing any Busmaster adapters or removing EMM386, the customer should install device driver ZERO_DMA.SYS. The device driver should be copied to the root directory, and the following statement should be added as the first line in the CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=ZERO_DMA.SYS ftp://ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/pccbbs/valuepnt/zero_dma.zip http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/876e.htm ...
