*Both* adapters NIB for $20, Charles, or *each* for $20 NIB, or only the
Olicom NIB for $20?

I would do them each for $15. Only downside of the shrink-wrapped
retail boxes is you want to minimize volume and weight of what is
shipped for overseas buyers. Not a problem for US freight though.

The Olicom is really only a good adapter if you simply must see the "100
megabit" light come on at your switch. Otherwise, plenty of better choices
(almost anything) exist. On an unloaded (and fast!) system, the Olicom card
will beat any MCA Ethernet card out there. On a lower end system or one that
is doing something else...read on:

I thought I'd put one in a 9585 "X" I was using as a web server at work
while the regular server was being upgraded and reconfigured. My theory was
that the 100 megabit link speed might make things move from the primary
server to the 9585 a little more quickly.

With the soldered 486SX-33 CPU in place, the Olicom just crawled and brought
the system to the floor with it. I finally got mad, pulled the card and
slapped a 3C529 in there with a TP transceiver on it. Slower link, faster
copy and a system that was actually usable while communicating on the
network were the results.

I wonder if it would gone any faster with a faster CPU? It's long
been known that you never really got to GO 100mb, of course.

Hi,

The highest number I have seen on my Server 95 (Pentium MMX Overdrive 180
MHz) was around 3 MBytes/s (Linux and my own driver). The hard limit is
the ISA-style bus interface of the DP83800 LAN chip. Faster CPUs would
just be waiting faster...

IBM 100/10 ISA Ethernet Driver
I recently upgraded an old PC with the IBM 100/10 ISA ethernet card from Win98 to Win2K. I was frustrated to find that IBM is no longer supporting the card and Win2K does not natively support this card. After installing Win2K, the card appears in the device manager as "IBM FEI". A different poster suggested that the Intel PRO 100 ISA drivers might work. I'm confirming that this does work. I had to manually select the driver type from the list of known equipment but it is working fine. The drivers are still available from Intel at: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-d...
