Vintage IBM 86-87 8530 Tape Drive with windows 3.0
This IBM is so cool!, It has a Tape drive (26 MB) and it has 02048 kb of
ram. Boots to windows 3.0 works great. Everything and every program seems to
work. This computer will someday be in a Museum. First of the PS 2 IBM's to
have a mouse.
Comes with vintage IBM (heavy) keyboard, And the IBM computer itself, No
monitor or mouse. Set this up in your house and boot to the old windows, And
to explain it has no hard drive

No affiliation

Could be fun indeed!
S&H across the pond : $271,12 !!
Travelling businessclass I guess . . .

Hi!

> This IBM is so cool!, It has a Tape drive

I think the seller is a bit confused. All those programs didn't come
up from floppy or tape! Has anyone ever seen a Model 30/55 system with
an installed tape drive? (I would have to think that such a
configuration would be unlikely, unless perhaps it was installed in a
system that booted from a LAN and was otherwise "medialess"...)

The shipping is more than I'd like to pay and it's a reserve
auction...hmm.

I agree. There's no tapedrive to be seen in the pics, internal or external.
The only option would be to have an internal drive with a blank bezel
covering it, but to what end? 26MB tape is less than the standard hdd for
the mod 30 and it would be agonizingly slow.
And then there's the issue of booting off a tapedrive . . .

One of the pics is showing fdd A and B, hd C and ram D.

Yep, confused.

Auction: IBM 9585 PS2
http://search.ebay.com/Z190174683216 BIN William, they are Xies. Hi! > http://search.ebay.com/190174683216 [fix: dropped the errant Z before item #] > BIN > William, they are Xies. As in "Xpensive". I would hope that these same machines will surface under a more reasonably priced listing or that these folks would consider a reasonable offer. I'd almost dare to make them one, but I'm not sure I want to foot the shipping bill right now. My collection of 9585-X machines is getting quite large. Most of them are transplanted Texans. I have enough to run a pretty wide card of OSes...OS/2, Win95, NT4, Linux, and NT 3.1. There is at least one "duplicate", so I could probably squeeze in a Win98SE machine. That would leave only DOS and Windows 3.1x...and I'm not sure I'd want to waste an 85 on that. Problem with Seagate/IBM DDS-3 tape drive.
I'm stuck trying to get a tape drive to work. Any help appreciated. I bought an IBM RS/6000 server recently (7025 F50 to be precise), which is fitted with a IBM DDS-3 tape drive that is clearly made by Seagate. I've tried today for the first time to use the tape drive with a DDS-2 tape, but are not having a lot of luck. The model says "IBM" Seagate "SDT124000" and under that "SDT22400".
