From Raryl, I got a nice little DEBbie from him, good enough to eat.
Hi!

I bought a similar system from this seller and it's still going along
nicely. Packaging was good and the system was in excellent shape, apart
from a yellowed front panel.

The little DEBbie I got from him was in very good shape, well packed.
I still wake up screaming over the wave of foam peanuts....
Hi!
> Reply based system.
And a good little performer at that...makes for a nice Win95 box with
which to word process, spreadsheet, etc... It uses what is more or less
a 55SX case, the IBM 486SLC2-50 CPU (16MB of RAM maximum, this is a
16/24 bit planar) and has a space in the bottom (if the mounting
hardware existed) to put a CD-ROM. The video is Cirrus Logic with 1MB
VRAM. Works nicely at 800x600x64K color with a 72Hz refresh rate.
This is also one of the few PS/2s to use IDE.
Downside? It also uses a DS1387 to keep the time, date and CMOS
running.
> I still wake up screaming over the wave of foam peanuts....
I don't do that, but my living room carpet might...considering the
number of PS/2s and related goodies that have been unpacked and tested
right there! I hate cleaning up after packing peanuts, especially with
regard to the ones that stick to everything, go under the couch or do
both.

Hi Louis,
> PSU has high pitched whine, op is correct.
Do you know this machine?
Seller has gone through great lengths to remove data :
"The disks have been removed from the hard drive."
And then:
"The hard drive has been reinstalled (but not connected) because the part
number can be found on the housing."
Wouldn't it have been easier and quicker to photocopy the labels and put the
copies in the machine??

This thing won't run an OS/2 1.0, 1.1 would it? It requires a 286? If so guess I'll be waiting for another 50Z to bubble up. :\

I think it becomes obvious when a person looking at the listing also has one
of those coffee cans (look in the picture background) that he has *far too
much stuff*.
Otherwise a very nice looking computer. I find the dual floppy setup
especially handy.

Thanks for the link, I put a bid in.
Looks like it will need a DS1287 and the (DS1225?) NVRAM. At this
point in time, I'm finding that less and less of these can be
"revived" with use.
William
Hi William !
> Thanks for the link, I put a bid in.
Potsdam, eh ?
There's a city of the same name in Germany.
Famous, if you're in history.
South of Berlin. Some of my relatives live there.
> Looks like it will need a DS1287 and the (DS1225?) NVRAM.
1287's can be reworked .... ;-)
If still in place. No reason to pull the 1225 anyway.
Interesting machine in fact. No 387SX.
Tribble "patch-infested" SCSI,
2-8MB 80286 memory expansion
MP-Async adapter as it seems.
What's the adapter with the two 45 rotated ferrite transformers ?
The resistor array packs and orange buffer caps make it look IBM-ish.
PC Network adapter ? Or a Modem ? (Probably a relay towards the rear,
accompanied by two TO-220-like transistors / voltage regulators)
