D845PEBT2 MB and USB2.0 devices ? Can't get 2 USB2.0 devices to work at once.

I have my case (Kingwin) front usb port connected to the onboard usb
connectors. I cannot connect 2 usb2.0 devices at the same time. The second
one will not be recognized by XP also it doesn't appear to get power (eg, no
led lit on card reader). If I connect a 1.0 usb and 2.0 usb device, both
work fine. Should 2 usb 2.0 devices be able to run at the same time?

I had seen this when I had a HP 300e dvd burner and ADS hard drive kit both
connected to the PC and thought it was some conflict. But now I just got a
2.0 Sandisk card reader and it also won't work if the HP burner is plugged
in. So I then unplugged the HP and found the Sandisk and ADS drives also
won't work. If the Sandisk is plugged in second, XP pops up with a USB
device not recognized error, also no leds light up on the Sandisk and they
light up right away if I plug it in first.

Can't get PCI Network Card to Work
Hello, I have an IBM Pentium III 663MHz PC (desktop) which I've been trying to get a Linux Distro to work on with Networking successfully. I know it can be done, because this box has been loaded with an early version of Redhat and operated as a web server. I wanted to start fresh so I wiped the system clean with Redhat 8 - which was able to come up quickly and correctly detect the network card that was installed. However it could not "initialize" the card. I knew that Redhat 8 had some issues, so I installed Redhat 7.2. The results were the same. So know I've taken out the...

So know I've taken out the "big guns" - as it seems that Knoppix (4.0.2 in my case) will work with just about everything. But the results, sadly, are not much different. PCI is my only choice as the IBM only has PCI slots. I have two NICs that I've tried - and the results are pretty much the same: Card #1: This was the card that has been in there when the box was a web server - 3Com 10/100 TX Fast Etherlink XL PCI 2 - 3c905B-TX NM All three distros are able to probe the card correctly and select (what I would guess to be) the correct driver. I've tried toassign an IP through DHCP and also by assigning it a static IP - neither case worked. Card #2: (Test individually - not at the same time as card #1) - D-Link DFE-530TX REV-A1 All three distros were also able to select the correct driver for this card. I tried both DHCP and static IP. When I assigned the D...

if instead of 0.0.0.0 netmask is 255.0.0.0, I can't go on internet. That doesn't make sense...
Hello 1) I'm running W2k on PC called A ( it's not really named A, but for the sake of argument ...) and if my routing table has ( destionation )0.0.0.0 ( netmask )255.0.0.0 ( gateway )192.168.2.1 instead of ( destionation )0.0.0.0 (netmask)0.0.0.0 (gateway)192.168.2.1 then I can't get on internet. I know address 0.0.0.0 basically means "send the packet on internet", but why needs netmask be 0.0.0.0? Afterall, all that netmask 255.0.0.0 should tell A is that destination address is not on the same network as A is, and thus should send it to d...

3*x''+(10^-3)*x'+123*x=2*cos(3*t); x=x(t);initial conditions x(0)=0 and x'(0)=0
Hi everybody, I need to solve the Cauchy problem written in the title box ( I paste it here again ): 3*x''+(10^-3)*x'+123*x=2*cos(3*t); x=x(t);initial conditions x(0)=0 and x'(0)=0. I tried with Runge-Kutta method and it seems to work as the solution x(t) is the same that I can get solving the equation by myself. I need to know if it would be better another method (eventually multistep one) and why it would be better (please don't just tell me 'cause it's faster or so...I need to know the why too). As last thing I need to estimate the error committed with Runge...

Can't get Outpost 2.0 to work on ICS computer
I had Outpost installed on one computer in a small network and liked it so much that I got another copy to run on the ICS machine. But I can't seem to get it configured properly to allow internet connection sharing. Once I install it, the othe computers on the network can no longer access the internet (I had at one time used Norton PFW on the ICS computer and it worked fine right out of the box). This ICS computer is running WinXP Pro and has 2 NICs (one connected to cable modem, other connected to LAN hub). Any ideas? TIA for advice. James James Bond <jbond@ue.com> wrote...

Can't get FreeBSD 6.0 to recognize my AC-97 audio device
Hi, I installed FreeBSD 6.0 to my Dell OptiPlex GX150 and everything worked like charm until I tried to get the audio device to work. I then tried compiling Apache with a "worker" MGM (instead of the default "prefork") and changing the StartServers parameter to 0 so that child processes are started after Apache's modules configuration, but it doesn't work either. I compiled Apache with gcc3: ../configure --prefix="$HTTPD_DIR" --enable-module=most --enable-shared=most --without-gdbm --without-berkeley-db --with-mpm=worker (the "without"s are mostly for avoiding to compile some things present on a dev machine but not on the deployment one). can't translate 3D model to 0,0,0
Dear Math Forum, I have a problem with translating some 3D models to 0,0,0. I have been using the following code: ma = Mean@a; ac = # + ({0, 0, 0} - ma) & /@ a; where "a" is a 3D model made up of many 3D coordinates. However, this code does not work - in that the new centroid (mean) of the model is not at 0,0,0. can anyone suggest an alternative method? best wishes, Will It should work but you can use a slightly simpler expression. Of course, it always helps when posting to MathGroup to give an actual case that doesn't work rather than letting the resp...

iCal 2.0: can't subscribe to vCal (1.0) calendars
Hi, I just switched to Tiger, thus moving to iCal 2.0. While most of my subscribed calendars are still working nicely, at least one got silently dropped with no comment whatsoever. In addition to the trouble of having to find the corresponding URL again, I now find that I cannot subscribe again, getting a message that "Data downloaded from ... is not valid". When I download it first, I can import it as a vCal calendar, whereas importing it as an iCal calendar yields "This calendar file is unreadable". With earlier versions of iCal subscribing to that same calendar work...

A fetchall() call causes the above error. There must be some non-utf8 chars in the table in question and - indeed - there very likely are: The table contains pathnames of files on the harddisk of a German "speaking" PC.
