15inch flexview sxga+ vs. 15inch flexview uxga
I know the uxga has been discontinued, but for those of you who have
seen both, how do they compare? Is the quality the same?

Yes, the quality is the same (I've got both), but there's no replacing the
UXGA resolution in the 15" display.
If you're considering the SXGA+, better the 14" display for the overall
smaller form factor of the unit, unless you need the 15" display to make up
for vision problems.

But there aren't any 14" flexviews, are there?

No, but the 14" SXGA+ displays are very good.

Personally, I'd rather have a big screen than a small, excepting the
trade-offs. I would pick a 15" over a 14" if all else was equal and
maybe even pay more (in battery life, weight and/or cost).
I would not want any higher resolution than sxga at 15". The letters
just get too tiny. UXGA might be ideal for a 17"+ screen size, but
it's pushing it for 15" ....to me.

The standard solution is to use larger fonts.
UXGA is awesome on 15" but ultimately the OP would have to decide if
it's worth the price premium. I am quite happy with SXGA+ on 15".

BOE-Hydis makes the ThinkPad FlexView screens. After using one, there is no
substitute for me.
The sad thing is that you can still buy the 1600 x 1200 BOE-Hydis screen if
you buy a Dell Notebook. I've talked at length with the Lenovo sales people
and they say there just aren't enough people that want 1600 x 1200. For me
there is no substitute.
I'm now forced to consider a Dell for my next machine.

I fully agree with you. The quality of that display is amazing, without
the glare I hate in most today's laptops. What Dell machine still has
it? This is the only one I would consider.
