### A31 issues

Hello,

I'm new to this ng so forgive if this question has been posed and answered
many times. I obtained a Thinkpad A31 from a friend who got frustrated with
random freezes. I have Googled the problem and seen many answers, but none
seem to apply to this machine.

It may freeze at any time. Right after bootup, after long periods of use,
anytime. It sits on a cooling pad, too. I removed the cpu fan (see below)
and cleaned it. Still freezes.

Increased memory from 256 to 1 gig. Checked memory with memtest - no
problems.

I replaced the cpu with an identical chip. No difference. This is when I
cleaned the fan.

I reinstalled XP Pro SP2 from scratch and updated the video driver. Still
freezes randomly.

I updated XP SP2 with all MS updates and this made the problem worse. I
went back to unupdated SP2.

Maybe this laptop is not completely fixable. If anyone can suggest more
possibilities, I'd appreciate it. If an IBM tech is reading this ng, I'd
like to hear from this person, too, even if the answer is that it's just
to waste more money on it.

Does anyone think that switching to PCLOS might help?

Thanks, all, JG

Follow up to my own post: I nuked the hard drive and install PCLinuxOS
2007. This may have cured the problem since the laptop was under heavy use
all day with no lock-up. If this is the solution that would suggest that
some setting or driver in XP was causing the problem. I realize that this
is a drastic solution since so many owners have XP, but it worked on this
laptop for me. Best, JG

BGP issues
Hi all,, I have Some issues In BGP as Following:: I need brief Explanation about what difference between Redistribute Connected Command and Network Command I have created 7 loopbacks I advertised 3 of them with network command and advertised others with Network command but The 3 networks I advertised them with network command cant be learned with neighbor of ebgp but it learned the distributed one's when I make network command for the subnets between neighbors in ebgp ,,, the other routers learned the networks advertised with network command so what differnce between redistribute and network command in advertising networks Thanks all On Jun 27, 3:59=A0pm, "Cisco.ah...@gmail.com" <Cisco.ah...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi all,, > I have Some issues In BGP as Following:: > I need brief Explanation about what difference between Redistribute > Connected Command and > Network Command > > I have created 7 loopbacks I advertised 3 of them with network command > and advertised others with Network command > > but The 3 networks I advertised them with network command cant be > learned with neighbor of ebgp > > but it learned

DOMXML issues
I've been stabbing at this for the past hour and I figured it out, but there's some erratic behavior under certain conditions that I think I should mention... I used tidy to clean up an html document before reading it into an xml document via DOMDocument->loadXML(). When I load the page via loadXML(), the XPath won't return values at all for queries other than "//" "*" or "." (such as //a, etc) When I switch to DOMDocument->loadHTML(), it works fine. I was wondering if anyone could give me a reason for this. It works now, so I'm not comp

Concurrency Issues
Hi, I am writing a small program, where any number of users can have access to a file apparently concurrently. Since certain operations done on the file such as ADD at EOF, Modify, Delete, make rise to race conditions, I designed a small algorithm to ensure that only one user is using the file at one time. Basically I share a variable between all users and when a user requests an operation, user checks its value and upon its value, he acts. But by using the algorithm designed, I have lost the concurrency aspect. Is there a way to let users use the file apparently concurrently and avoiding

Jython Issues
Ok I have looked all over the internet and I can't find what I am doing wrong or how I can do it right I am using windows xp Jython 2.1 I am trying to invoke the jython interpreter I have set my Path in my environment variables to D:\jython-2.1; everything has installed fine but when I try to run the command jython from dos a list of other commands appear that go with the interpreter so I tried jython -? and jython -help and the same thing Python and Java are both installed with latest stable versions of both any help is always appreciated thanks in advance I got everything figu

Issues connecting
I setup a simple Debian server (v4) with Apache 2 and BIND DNS on a static IP address. I can access the website from my computer which is on another static IP address one number off. One other system that is offsite can also access the website but no one else can. Can't even ping the server. What makes it more interesting is I have a Windows server on another static IP, same internet connection and everyone can access it. Anyone have any ideas of what I may missing here for the Debian server that is preventing the access to it? BIND is the DNS server for domains pointing to both the

lsqnonlin issues
Hi, I am using the lsqnonlin routine to minimize a system with three equations and 21 variables,I however find that the code is too slow, takes 3-4 hours to run a single case,is there any way I can speed up the process. I tried the Large-Scale algorithm but it cannot solve underdetermined system. Any input will be appreciated. Regards Anand Hi Anand, You can try NLSSOL in TOMLAB /SOL. Also slsSolve might work well (with SNOPT as a subsolver). TOMLAB /MAD can provide derivatives as needed. Best wishes, Marcus Tomlab Optimization Inc. <http://tomlab.biz> Anand Seshadri wrote: > &
