Thinkpad X60 won't power up.

I replaced a new LCD screen for my Thinkpad X60 but it won't power up.
If I removed the LCD cable from the screen socket, X60 will start
normally. Even when the power cable of the LCD screen is not plugged
into the inverter, X60 won't power up as long as the LCD cable is
inserted in the socket. When I press the power button, all LED lights
will light once and then it shuts down. I have to unplug the power
adapter and insert it again to reset it. Please help me find out what
caused it since it is really frustrating. Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem with a T43 I just replaced the screen in.
Also having the same frustration. Any help would be appreciated.

Where did you guys get your replacement screens from? I've swapped plenty of
screens myself and have never had a problem as long as I've used a donor
screen from a contemporary or later model ThinkPad (that I've removed myself
so am sure of its history).

From about 2005 / 2006 onwards ThinkPads 'look' for an 'EDID' ID chip from
the screen at boot-up (earlier models don't). If the EDID isn't on the
BIOS's whitelist then the machine won't boot.

I'm told that it *is* possible to re-write the screen's EDID so that the
ThinkPad will accept it but you need to do that by fitting the screen to a
machine that will accept it and then you need to be pretty handy with
coding.

Pax, what screen are you trying in that T43, and what is the type number of
the machine?
