Hello group,
since last week I own a Lenovo ThinkPad X61s, my father the ThinkPad R61i.
Both computers have a trackpoint instead of a trackpad.
To get a plain Windows XP on the X-Machine I installed a new Windows XP Pro
SP2 and downloaded/installed all the drivers necessary. On the R-Machine I
"just" uninstalled useless software.
However, on both devices I experience exactly the same problem:
when using the Trackpoint, the cursor seems to "jump". I experienced this
using Firefox 2.0.0.13 when moving over hyperlinks and while using Outlook
2003 when moving over the separating-lines between the outlook bar and the
e-mail-list. The same thing happens when I use an external mouse, either
with or without its driver from CD.
It seems that the cursor jumps back to the opposite direction to make a
huger step forward afterwards. When passing over some weblinks the cursor
seems to be quiet sedate. It looks like the cursor has to "think" first
before he knows what mode he has to operate in (arrow -> hand -> arrow
aso.).
This problem actually limits the use of the Trackpoint/Mouse/Cursor quiet
gravely because I loose the accuracy I got used to when using an ThinkPad
trackpoint.
I tried using the SP2-stanard-PS2-driver instead of the Lenovo Version 4.63
as well as not using Intellipoint 6.2, but that did not solve my problem. As
well I tried using older Trackpoingdrivers which made no difference at all
as well.
To compare: on a ThinkPad T60p and X40 there is no such "jumping"-problem,
even when using driver version 4.63.
If you need more information, don't hesitate to contact me at any time!
Thank you in advance,
cheers, Jonas

Hello,
I found the solution by myself: I deactivated the 3D-Cursor by Microsoft and
suddenly the "jumping" stopped.
Cheers,
Jonas
