iMovie->QT video: horizontal lines
Gang,
I exported an iMovie (v3.0.3) project to Quicktime video format using
the selection for playing on a website. The resulting video has a
"fuzziness" to it, but it consists of short, sharp horizontal lines.
Kinda hard to describe (there may be a technical term for it that I
don't know.) Mostly where there are edges or details in the video it
gets jaggedy with these little lines.
I re-exported the project as the email-able format, and it came out
just fine. Problem with that one is that it's just too tiny...
Is there something I've overlooked in creating that first version for
the web?
Thanks much,
_dennis

Probably artifacts from drastic compression. iMovie thinks web-site
customers use dial-up connections, so any movies there should be
small. You can select "Custom" or whatever it is called, and tell
Quicktime what compression to use. Do some experiments to see
which codec is best, and the trade-offs between quality and size.
