IPod Locks Up?

20 Gb Ipod locks up. What to do to free it up? I cannot get the Mac to
recognize it is plugged into Firewall port; it will not play, it just
displays the same screen four hours (so far). Is there a reset on the
thing somewhere?

Since I don't know which generation of iPod this is (several generations
have had 20G models), I'll just tell you that googling for "reset ipod"
gives more than 10 pages of links, and that most of those even on the
first page look useful.

There is evven a very good page called
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/
Cllick the link "Solving problems" and play the movie, odds are it'll
help you out.

Completing these steps is left as an excercise for the reader. ;-)

I had my 3G, 15GIg iPod lock up on me once. Even resetting didn't fix
it. When I tried to reset, I would hear the hard drive spin up, then
spin down again. Finally, after it completely discharged, I hooked it
up to my Mac, and it acted fine. No problems since (knock on wood, it
is now officially out of warranty).
