IRISPen Express 4.8

  • Follow

IRISPen has worked well for me until I bought a new Mac with the Intel
chip. Now it constantly tells me that the pen is unplugged and the
driver is unloaded even though I have installed the software and plugged
the pen into a powered USB hub.
I asked IRIS about this and they said the pen should work with my new
computer. Before I go back to them I wondered if some one who reads this
news group might have had experience using the IRIS pen with the new
computer.
I would appreciate any information.
Thank you.

I don't have an Intel Mac, so can't exactly answer your question. But I
can give you another question: When you spoke with IRIS, did they say
they'd actually tested and verified that things work, or was it, as you
said, "should work"?

The reason I asked: I just bought ReadIRIS Pro (I'm on PPC systems). I
asked them if it worked with Rosetta/MacIntel and they said, "it should,
but we haven't tested it...will ask the developers and get back to you."
That was a couple of months ago and they still haven't gotten back to me.

Please post what you find for the group.

As I recall, the person I talked to at IRIS said "It should work". I
still haven't managed to get the scanning pen to work with my new
computer. I haven't gone back to IRIS yet as I am rather busy with some
other things at the moment. I intend to pursue it further in the next
few days. I was a bit surprised at the sparseness of replies to my
original post. If some one had told me that they were successful with
the pen on one of the new MacIntel machines I would have looked harder
at my setup and vice versa I would be able to bang on IRIS with more
authority.
By the way I have played around a bit with Readiris Pro 11, the down
loadable demo and it seems much improved over Readiris 9.

On this date I spoke to tech service at ReadIris. They now acknowledge
that there is a problem with Iris Pen and the new Mac Intel computers.
They say that the tech people are working on a down loadable patch and
they have hopes that it will be ready in about a week.
