iWork Export Peculiarity

I think this happens with any of the iWork programs, though I mainly see 
it with Pages because I "Export" Pages files more often than those from 
the other iWork programs.

I can save a (copy of a) document as a PDF using Export... in the File 
menu.  When I do, sometimes it has the .pdf extension and sometimes it 
doesn't.  When it doesn't, I can do a Get Info and uncheck the "Hide 
extension" box.  Then the extension shows up.

The thing that boggles my mind is that sometimes it does and sometimes 
it doesn't.  If it always did one or the other I could understand it.  I 
can't find anything in either the Pages Preferences or the Export... 
dialog that refers to hiding or not hiding the extension.

Is this a known bug, or issue, or whatever it is?

There is a "Hide extension" checkbox in the "Save As" dialog box.  Since 
that dialog is not part of pages, there may be some history from another 
application.

I don't know.  I know that I type in ".pdf" at the end if it isn't 
present in the title when I begin editing it.  I think it might 
"remember" from the previous time you did it.  That's a guess.
