Looking for a simple collage maker for Mac

I've checked out several of these programs and find them very complicated.

All I want to be able to do is create pages consisting of multiple
photos arranged into layouts. What do I mean? Simply, I'd like to
choose 4 photos (mixed portrait and landscape) and arrange them into 2
rows of 2 photos, or 6 photos and arrange them into 2 x 3, or 8 into 2
x 4, etc. There would have to be margins large enough to write on.

Does someone know of something that would fit this need?

Thanks in advance!

A Google search will turn up several. But one of the easiest to
use--and the most flexible--is Picasa. Picasa automatically finds the
pictures on your hard drive (you can tell it where to look if you have
pictures in places it doesn't expect) and choose the ones to go into the
collage. The resulting collage is just an image, and Picasa puts it
into a specific directory. You can also save a copy wherever you want
on your hard drive.

From the Picasa Help:

----------
You have total artistic control over your collage content and layout.
Experiment with six different collage types in the hands-on collage
creation screen. To create a picture collage, follow the instructions
below:
   1. Select the photos you'd like to include in your collage.
   2. Click the Collage button in the Photo Tray or click the Create
Photo Collage button in the folder or album header.
   3. On the collage creation page, use the Settings and Clips tabs to
control the appearance and content of your collage:

Collage Style

Settings

Add more photos

   4. Use the buttons above and below the collage to help select and
arrange the photos included in the collage. To remove a photo from the
collage, select the photo in question and click the Remove button above
the collage.
   5. When you're satisfied with your work, click Create Collage.
Alternatively, click the Desktop Background button to create the collage
and set it automatically as your computer desktop image. Once you've
created your collage, you can share it with friends by uploading to
Picasa Web Albums, emailing, or printing it in high-resolution.
----------

You can specify the page size (either choose from the built-in pages or
define your own) and background, and choose from these methods of
arranging the pictures in the collage:

----------
You can choose from six different styles of collage using the top
drop-down menu on the Settings tab:
   1. Picture pile: This collage looks like a pile of scattered
pictures. You can drag photos around the collage, bring a photo to the
top or bottom of the pile, and adjust the scale and angle of each photo.
Click an image in the collage and the wheel will appear on top of your
selected image. Adjust the scale and angle of the photo by clicking and
dragging the wheel button.
   2. Mosaic: Picasa automatically fits your photos into the page.
Unlike the 'Grid' collage, the pictures are not aligned into neat rows
and columns.
   3. Frame mosaic: You can create a mosaic of your selected images, all
surrounding one prominent center image. You can change the center image
by clicking your desired center image, and then clicking the Set as
Frame Center button.
   4. Grid: All of your selected photos are arranged into regular rows
and columns.
   5. Contact sheet: Your photos are arranged neatly as thumbnails.
   6. Multiple exposure: Your selected photos are superimposed over one
another. You'll see the best results for this collage if you use fewer
images.
----------

Grid appears to be what you are asking for.

I don't think this is very complicated. The price is right, also: free.

Picassa for full expression; however, you can even do what you seek
with iPhoto using either the Book or Card project types.

One most flexible, if you know basic HTML and CSS, is the free Mac
text editor TextWrangler, you can arrange pics however you want and
print them from a browser viewport.

I've been using TurboCollage, downloaded from MacUpdate.com.

I don't use any Google apps. They all embed a system level updater
that you can't remove or turn off without removing all Google apps.

Posterino will do what you want.

You can do that with most any word processor.

Graphic Converter can do that Cost about $70 Beat the check out of
Photoshop which about 300-400 dollars.

You put the Photos in a folder then open the folder in brwoser window
the catalog the files you want to print. come with a great manual and
the developer from Germany is very good at constantly updating to
improve. I think you can Try out. I've had so long I've forgotten
whether it allows a Trial period.

But the same capability is in Photoshop Elements ($79 or so) and it
gives you a lot more than GraphicConverter...if you're going to compare
with an Adobe product, or you could use GIMP for free.

Pages, which is part of the iWork suite from Apple, should do just what
you want. The suite costs, if I am correct, about $80, but I believe
that iWork can be purchased separately.
