Does anyone have a recommendation for a magazine or ezine that targets
amateur Mac users as the audience. Something that doesn't focus on new pc
users but on new Mac users with special attention given to things like:
1. Software recommendations for various categories. Not just ads for
software but articles on new titles, new releases of old titles, what the
software does, why a user should purchase it, comparisons to similar apps on
any OS. I'd love to see something that listed all the well-known OS X apps
in any given category (I understand there will be a great many left out but
including the 5 most popular would be great) and have it explain their
features, benefits, pros & cons. Possibly tossing in a comparison to the
most popular Windows app that does the same thing for long-time Windows
users. Something along the lines of what macorchard has setup.
2. Tips/tricks/tweaks/fun stuff
3. Hardware articles w/new hardware releases (new designs, new types,
updates, etc)
4. Basic/beginner scripting (very basic stuff, possibly starting with little
fun things in Apple Script)
5. Articles that explain things like permissions, the need to repair
permissions, using the root when absolutely necessary, Carbon, Cocoa,
Darwin, etc.

MacWorld and MacAddict. The first for Serious Stuff, and the second for
those with a less serious attitude.

MacWorld is o.k. 2.5 stars out of 4.

Or more importantly, it's the best one out there for you (IMO) with
MacAddict taking 2nd place. Get a copy of each and see which one suits
your style best.
