scrolling too fast

  • Follow

Hi,

I see this question has been addressed here before but I don't seem to
find any solutions.

The question is, when I'm select-scrolling, when it reaches
th bottom of the page it accelerates and goes so fast it's
almost impossible to stop it where I want - it always
overshoots. Then when I 'back-up' my select region,
still keeping the button down so my select region
is hi-lighted, as soon as it hits the top of the screen, it
accelerates too fast for me to stop in that direction.

There MUST be some control for scroll-speed, but
I can't find it and my Mac help (OS 9.2) doesn't
seem to mention it. This is really not
user-friendly - unless of course if there's a
fix - and it should be an EASY fix, like a
control selection.

Anybody dealt with this problem before? It
really makes some jobs tedious and slow.

Thanks.

Ke

There is a 3rd party solution for OS 9, but I can't recall the name. Do
a search at versiontracker.com.

I recalll installing it on our layout editor's computer a few years ago
for the same reasons you have.

Thanks. There is something called smart scroll written by someone
by the name of Marc Moini, which I downloaded, installed, and rebooted.
To my amazement it works.

There's also a Mac X version. I'm really surprised Apple didn't provide
a scroll-speed adjustor as part of the OS.

Oddly, I can't seem to be able to register or pay for the
Mac 8/9 version - when I go to Kagi where I'm supposed to pay there's
no Mac 8/9 version listed, just the Mac X. SImilarly with the
registration software I also downloaded from Marc's site.

Anyway I sent an email to him - that's not your problem Thanks for
the pointer. It works!
