Apple has now announced the new iPod Photo. I have been hoping for something
along these lines but the information doesn't quite answer my questions.

What is the screen resolution? It says 2" color LCD with 65K colors but I
don't see the actual resolution called out.

Can it be used with the Belkin media Reader to transfer images from camera
media to the iPod hard disk and then to a Mac?

How does the A?V cable connect to display images on a TV? Do I need the dock
to do this or just the iPod and the cable?

<http://www.apple.com/ipodphoto/specs.html>

The info is all there on their web site, you just have to look for it.

It's under the main specification chart. Also near the bottom of the
sidebar on the Sync Your Photos page. It's 220x176 pixels, 0.18 dot pitch,
which translates to about 140 ppi.

Bottom of the sidebar on the Sync Your Photos page says you can.

Main specifications chart says "Composite video and audio through headphone
jack or line out on the iPod Photo Dock". It comes with both the dock and
the AV cable.

Hmm.
Can I use the iPod as an external Monitor for my PowerMac?
Would be funny. :-)

twice they claim the ipod doesn't charge while syncing. that is false.

they also say the media reader is made by 'delkin' not belkin (three
times, even). apparently they didn't click their own link to
pricegrabber which correctly lists it as belkin.

I am discouraged by the comment that the iPod won't display images copied
from a memory card until the images are sync to a computer.

Can anyone confirm that this is the case? I am not sure that I can trust the
review since I saw several factual errors.

that is how it works.

its probably the same reason you can't just add a song (via hard disk
mode) and have it show up - it has to be in the library database. thus,
it needs to sync the pictures (and downsample too).

The Ipod Photo will NOT charge while the hard-drive is spinning, this
is why Apple tells you in the manual to make sure the iPod is fully
charged prior to
doing a large sync.
