How to send electronic circuit drawing via email?
Hi all -
Can an electronic circuit drawing created by "OmniGraffle"
on a Mac be viewed by a Windows user?
I thought of converting the drawing to PDF format, would
that work, or are the lines and symbols too fine to show up
properly on a PDF?
I don't actually have OmniGraffle yet, the Florida team is
trying to talk me into using a Windows app' like "TinyCad",
but I hate working with Windows.
I am supervising a project in Florida, from California;
need to send emails back and forth from my Mac to
their PCs, using attachments to send the drawings.

Possible to automated writing a file to a remote Windows virtual box?
Hi,
I'm using Mac 10.6.3. I was wondering if it is possible, through
scripting or otherwise, to automate writing a file to a remote virtual
Windows XP box (running Microsoft remote desktop).
This is a big question and I have provided little detail, only because
I don't know all the right questions to be asking. Grateful for your
thoughts, - Dave

Permissions Variations - Why?
i'm running Snow Leopard (Version 10.6.4) on a MacBook Pro. I have a
single administrator account and several user accounts. All of my
applications, other than the installation of Snow Leopard itself, have
been installed from the administrator account. What has me curious is
the variance in the permissions. There are currently 46 items in the
Applications folder and the permissions break down as follows:
Snow Leopard Applications: system read & write, wheel read, everyone read
iWork & iLife Applications: system read & write, admin read & write,

Mouse tracking speed resets on each boot of 10.6?
I have a brand new 27" iMac. I love almost everything about it, but...
Every time I boot the system (and sometimes when it comes awake after
sleep), I find the mouse tracking speed is set back to default of SLOW.
I like my mouse tracking speed at the max (far right on the bar).
Anyone else have this problem? Find a solution to it?
FWIW, I ran 10.6 on my aging 4 y/o Mac Pro before upgrading, and did not
have this problem on that machine. When I asked the 'Apple Genius' at
the local store, he said it was because I am using a third party mouse

It used to be when I displayed a visualizer during playback, it would

Mac psychology
In "Discussing with the Mac elite..." we found out that Macs runs
exactly the same rock bottom low quality hardware as Dell. The lowest
bidder has a stolen formula that works? The Mac works. There's an
ingredient missing in the cheap taiwanese capacitors? Maccies invoke the
"capacitor plague" and find it normal that their twice as expensive
computers have the same problems as a Dell cheapie.
How is this possible? How can the "elite", the "crème de la crème" of
America -- because this is where Macs sell most -- have so little common
sense?
The answer is easy: 1984 type brain

Apple TV (what newsgroup?)
Anyone know what newsgroup is best to discuss network integration of the

What I'm looking at doing is adding a file server for flicks, probably
Linux. But the Apple TV spec page specifies:
"For streaming media from a Mac or PC:
iTunes 10 or later; iTunes Store account for Home Sharing"
This implies that it will only talk to an iTunes "server" (client on a
computer).

iMac G5 has started freezing
My PowerPC iMac G5 (late 2005) suddenly started freezing this week, and
I wonder if anyone can help me pinpoint the cause?
Here are the symptoms:
1) the first freeze happened in BF 1942, within about 5 seconds of the

This was reproducible, whether the game was online or not.
2) I tried Apple's Chess game, and noticed it was extremely slow to
respond and move the pieces, and eventually the game (not the computer)
froze.
3) Most other operations (I am typing this on it) seem to be OK.

Sometime in the past few weeks it has stopped working. It is a usb scanner
getting it's power via the usb connection, from a powered hub which is still
working. Have changed usb sockets on the iMac/hub. Changed leads also. The

Mysterious Mac showing up in Shared sidebar
Over last weekend, I just set up a new iMac at home (27", dual core i5,
4GB). It is on a network, through a NetGear 802.11g network. This iMac,
as well as an iMac G5 (20", 2 GHz) are wired to the router, as are two
printers, an HP 1022n laser printer, and an Epson Workforce 615
all-in-one inkjet printer. There is also a 1st generation MacBook Pro,

Getting annoying "Are you sure you want to open?" message -- how to get rid of?
Hi,
I'm using Mac 10.6.3. I have set Firefox to open upon login using the
doc's Options -> Open at Login menu. However, when Firefox starts,
I'm also prompted with a message "Firefox was downloaded from the
Internet, are you sure you want to open it?" (http://screencast.com/t/
YzZkMDZiYzQt). I'm not prompted with this message when I open Firefox
normally. Anyone know how to make this message go away forever when
Firefox opens after I login?
Thanks, - Dave
