A1058 or A1058?

Is an Apple model number insufficient identification, or did I get
ripped off?

Bought a G5 iMac for the purpose of swapping logic boards with my
niece's bad one. Both say "A1058" on the outside, but the logic boards
are significantly different.

sometimes they make internal changes and keep the model number the same.

Since the differences are not minor and I found two screws rattling
around inside, I suspect the internal changes were not made by Apple.

Lots of G5 iMacs had bad logoc boards (capacitor plague) and were
replaced by Apple under warranty. The problem was so prevalent that
Apple extended the warrranty from one year to three.

I can't say for sure if the original and Apple-replaced iMac G5 logic
boards are different, but I do know that when I had my eMac's logic
board changed for the same reason, that the new and old logic boards
definitely looked different, with components in different places.

Well, then, maybe I didn't get ripped off. But, not only are there
"components in different places" but also, in order to swap boards, I
also have to swap power supplies (extra connector) and swap WiFi parts
which are completely different. And the WiFi part means I have to
remove the fans and the metal frame, because the antennas of the one are
glued to that frame with no clearance between them and the outer case,
and the wire to one of them is threaded under the fans.

Yes, this was caused by the capacitor plague, but my niece probably
didn't know about the plague and the warranty or it happened outside the
extension period.

Wasn't that what he was asking about? Do they have roads in other
countries?
