Helvetica55Roman font issue

I have a problem with Helvetica55Roman. It is a mandatory font specified
by a client for use in FileMaker.

I have installed a free version, form several sources; seems to be
exactly the same file ( as one might expect); all with same results. The
'o' character does not display, and printing a pdf from the app raises a
error message:

<<
A font in this document is not licensed for embedding without permission
from the legal owner or font vendor. Depending on the font, blank text
may appear in the output file.
 >>

I am happy to buy an appropriate whatever; but from where?

Ask your client where they got it from. It may be part of a licensed
suite of fonts that is not available for download via the Internet,
either free or paid. If it is old enough, it might not even be mentioned
on the Internet and was only ever supplied on floppy or CD, for example.

If all else fails, you may need to get a copy of the font from your
client.

Have looked at the offering at Linotype:

I discovered the right click contextual menu in Font Book, selecting the
Font, right click contextual menu has a Validate Font option, and this
reports a warning under Warnings or Errors for 'kern' table structure
and contents; and under 'No Warnings or Errors' another 15 parameters
that are ok.

I downloaded the same (free) font from a fourth source, and this has no
errors under Font Book. TrueType as initially.

The OS level Print as PDF from File menu worked without error with the
dodgy font instance from LibreOffice, TextWrangler and also FileMaker.

While FM's scripted save record as PDF resulted in the font display
error ( no 'o' character) and error/license message result form FM's
inbuilt scripted Save records as PDF.

thanks for the suggestions, and particularly the point to Linotype.
