How many of us have met in person?

  • Follow

I can recall having met only two regulars or former regulars on these lists
in person. I met Mike Rosenberg a few years ago at Walt Disney World, and
knew Spenser when we worked for the same company in the 1990s.

Has anyone else here met, in person, anyone here?

You and I met at MacWorld in SF several years ago, to start. You gave
me a ride to where I was staying, as I recall.

I'm not a regular, but I've been poking my head in for years; the thought
had crossed my mind, too. The regulars here seem like sane, rational,
interesting and nice people -- yourself included.

Right; I had forgotten that.

Nope. Back when I was in Texas, I thought it might be nice to meet one
or two regulars here who also live there. Unfortunately, life got in the
way, and it never happened.

I may have met some of the x-Digital Equipment Corporation
contributors, or at least passed them in the halls at ZKO, or ate
lunch at an adjacent table (I would be the one always eating lunch
with my Wife or walking the halls over lunch with my Wife), but
for the most part, I only know the people in this forum from their
posts.

Hah. That just happened to me in real life (dating site, not usenet!)

I can't recall meeting anyone on the Mac usenet groups, though I've seen
a few I had met through BMUG (Berkeley Mac UG) posting in our groups.

I wonder what regulars here think of me... Could be a dangerous question
:-D

But yeah - by and large the regulars here are a very decent bunch, if
rather cranky as we age ;-) I'd love to be part of a CSM get together
some day, before Usenet ceases to be relevant.

Actually I picked it up from the very funny Tom Robbins, probably Even
Cowgirls Get the Blues, but might have been one of his others, perhaps
Another Roadside Attraction or Jitterbug Perfume. It's been a while
since I read them.
