Keychain problem

A user has a Powerbook which has gone through a user name change.

Now - periodically - Safari asks for the keychain password to unlock 
keychain for some sort stored password.

The user does NOT know the old password for the old account name -
we have tried clearing all items in the old user name keychain -

there seems to be no way to remove the (old) user from keychain

any Ideas??
