Hi,
I would like to have multiple workscreens available like I could using
gnome in linux. How do I set this up in mac os. Thanks, Rudy

It's a three-step process.
1. Get the display(s).
2. Plug it/them in.
3. Turn them on.
Whether you buy extra video cards depends on which Mac you are using
and on how many displays you want to use. Those Macs that can handle
external displays in extended-desktop mode have built-in support for
two displays.

The layout window in the prefs pane can manage 9 locations. Oh, and
you'll need to turn off the Mac and the monitors before plugging in.

If you mean multiple desktops, there's no support for it built in. This

Or wait for leopard, which reportedly will have this.
