My dad mentioned to me that he'd heard that there was some sort of
systemic problem with Mac OS X dealing with large capacity (1GB+)
compact flash cards in USB 2.0 compact flash card readers. I'm
certainly having such a problem now. The card reader I just got
(CameraMate Hi-Speed CompactFlash & Microdrive Dual Digital Media
Reader/Writer; see
<http://www.ziocorp.com/products/CameraMateHSCF_body.html>
for more details) mounts a 64MB and 256MB card just fine, but only
mounts the 1GB card sporadically.
I have an iBook G4 running OS X 109.4.3. Any suggestions as to why
this might not be working?
Thanks in advance!

Try plugging it directly into the computer or a hub that is plugged into
the electric socket. The GB cards don't work as good in the keyboard on
non electric hubs as the smaller cards do.

The computer I'm working on is an iBook, so I am plugging it directly
into the computer. I thought of the power issue, so I tried it with
the power adapter in---no luck.
Also, the card works fine in an old USB 1 reader with the same
computer. It's just too slow!
