I have been ripping my entire CD collection into iTunes for several weeks, so
I've been using it quite a bit (I teach a music appreciation class at
university, so it's handy to have everything immediately available on my
laptop).
Today, I woke my computer up, and after about a minute or two, it launched
iTunes all by its lonesome. I quit it. Another minute or two goes by, and it
launches iTunes again. I quit it. Again, it launches iTunes. This has
happened about a dozen times now, and it's really starting to become
obnoxious.
How do I make it stop?

First, take the cd out of the cd drive, then go to System Preferences
(Apple Menu) --> CDs & DVDs --> When you insert a Music CD. Set to:
Ignore

There isn't a CD in the drive. Nothing is running other than Finder.

My iTunes decided to crash out of the system and reinitialize itself from the
ground up.
Seems like a funny way of solving problems, but maybe it's just me.

In Preferences > General, do you have "Connect to Internet when needed"
checked? If you do uncheck it.
