I'v been geting errors so ran Disk First Aid. First it found:
Problem: Volume Bit Map needs minor repair, 4, 35
Then said it was repaired successfully. I run Verify and it reports:
Problem: MountCheck found serious errors.
Problem: Volume Header needs minor repair, 1, 0
Then said it was repaired successfully. I run Verify and it reports:
Problem: Volume Bit Map needs minor repair, 4, 35
How is this so?... Now, I'm running DFA from the volume I'm repairing, but
this has never been a problem since I've been using 9.x. I'm not
verify/repairing other mounted drives of partitions at the same time.
Info:
10GB main internal drive/partition plus 50GB scratch disk partition
10GB separate internal drive with OS 10.2.2
80GB External Firewire drive
All mounted while running DFA
Old G4 350MHz PCI-Yikes, 1GB RAM
I have a CD for 9.2.1 but was concerned about using the older version of DFA
from that. I'm probably going to resort to using Norton Utilities, but why
is DFA not working so strangely? I hate running Norton, and I've never been
able to produce a bootable backup to date, which scares me to death. I'm a
freelance designer and this old Mac is IT.

Unexpected quits, quits on save (with no save), type-1, type -2, type-11.
I had zapped PRAM, and rebuilt to no avail. Last straw was opening a brand
new Illy 9.0.2 doc after a restart, pasting 3 vector object on it and went
to save... poof!
Now I've run Norton Disk Doctor, used Intech Disk Defrag, and ran a DFA
Verify off the CD and it says all is well. I'm just wondering why my
installed DFA was going back and forth liek that without resolving? Nine
times, back and forth. It's worrisome.

I find Norton Disk Doctor to be problematic, do you have Disk Warrior?

Nope, and can't afford it right now. I don't like disk doctor either.
Things seem OK for now, I just don't know why DFA was reporting successful
repairs, then finding the same problems over and over. Haven't seen that
before.
