What's OS 9.1 vs OS 9.2.2 ?

I just upgraded my G3/266 to OS 9.2.2 from 9.1
* The PPC7500/300 won't upgrade past 9.1*
I don't see any difference between my two Macs
what are the differences / advantages between
OS 9.1 vs 9.2.2 ?

I wonder why the 7500/300 won't let you load 9.2.2?

As far as I've seen, the big differences in the versions past 9.1 are
all in order to make it play nicer with OS X. If OS X isn't an issue, I
wouldn't worry about it.

The 9.2.2 upgrade was just for G3s and G4 running Jaguar so that it could
run any OS 9 apps in Classic mode.

Do not upgrade your 9.1's to 9.2.2's! The reason is, as posted on apple's
support website, is that 9.2.2 is designed to function in conjunction with
OS X. If you have a computer that doesn't support OS X (your pre-G3 computer
qualifies!) then it won't be able to use 9.2.2 anyway. Just stick with 9.1

Next time definitely read the fine print before you download software. Apple
states that 9.2.2 is for "Classic Mode in OS X only." Though you already
realize your mistake. :)

You can't upgrade that 7500 computer to X, unfortunately, but the G3 you
can.

That is Apples official view. There are different opinions about this.
See http://www.os9forever.com/os9helper.html for why to use 9.2.2
I might add that it definitely booted faster on my 6400 (now sold).

Hrmm. Yes you can - also not officially.

What happened to OS 9.2? How can I restore OS 9.2 capability?

B&W G3 doesn't like OS 9.1 or 9.2.1!
I've just received a Blue & White 450MHz G3 that will boot from a retail OS 9.0 CD, as well as 10.0, 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3. But NOT 9.1 or 9.2.1! In fact, if, after installing OS 9.0, I upgrade to 9.1, the computer shows a gray screen with cursor. Nothing else. I've swapped hard drive (with and without three different data cable), RAM, CD, and video card. All to no avail. The OS 9.1 install is good, because that drive will boot a G4 tower just fine. OS 9 users
For those that are for now still working in OS9 only, are there any specific advantages to updating to 9.2 over staying with 9.1? I was once told that 9.2 only addressed Carbon compatibility for using in the Classic environment of OSX. Any idea if this is true, and if not, specifically what extensions/control panels etc. is anyone aware of that have improvements applicable to 9? 9 (9.0.4) or 9.1 (9.2.2)?
I'm looking to upgrade from System 8.6 to 9 on my 7100/66, which has a Sonnet 266MHz upgrade card (and 104MB RAM). Some old posts I've seen say I can go up to 9.1 (which means 9.2.2 ultimately, unless there's a reason not to), but a couple other posts I've seen say 9.1 won't install on a 7100 (they don't mention upgrade cards though), so I'd have to stick with 9 (9.0.4). Can anyone tell me which is true (whether I should be looking for a 9 or 9.1 install CD on ebay, essentially)? Thank you. In article <oliverluNOSPAM-4219E8.11342630092003@news06.west.eart...

Restoring Macintosh G4 Graphite:OS 9.0.4 vs. 9.2
