Publish to live site from SubversionIve been using Subversion for a while to maintain the PHP web apps and
sites I develop in my Windows box. But when I want to publish a new
release I update the live site manually and I want to improve this process.
I cant simply export to a fresh directory and upload all files because
that wont handle renames and deletions (and the upload will take
forever anyway). I typically use WinMerge to find out what files changed
but therere some drawbacks:
* It cant compare files through FTP (and if it could, I guess itd need
to download the whole site every time) so I need to maintain a local
copy of the live site and upload files manually.
* It cant use the repository information so it wont ignore
non-versioned items (settings, uploads, caches, data) unless I maintain
a separate filter duplicating the svn:ignore data.
I could keep my current method and write a bunch of Subversion hook
scripts in PHP (Im not proficient in any other language available) to
keep the data in synch but I looks like a overwhelming effort that can
easily break. So I wonder how is everyone else doing it. But according
to my googling the answer is: writing lots of custom scripts!
Is it the only way? Is there a tool to help with this common task? Can
Apache Ant be used for this? How do *you* do it?

If you want to discuss how IPC and pipes are implemented in the
kernel it's completely ok. But if you're interested in how to
use IPC or pipes from a userland program then posting to e.g.
comp.unix.programmer or comp.os.linux.development.apps will

These gun nuts should be thankful their names and addresses were published. Isn't it true what they say, that if a criminal knows you own a gun they won't rob you? No? That the criminals actually are after your guns? LOL.

com.sys and usbser.sys questionI got a question, for those knowing more about that matter than myself,
which shouldn't be hard ;-)
Temporarily having 2 phone lines at my disposal, I wanted to put my old

But I had quite some trouble to get my COM1 port to work at all with any

It finally turned out, that COM.SYS has to be loaded before USBSER.SYS,
since otherwise USBSER.SYS is hijacking COM1 unnoticed. Now, in the order
shown below, it assigns itself to COM6 (if not remed out), but COM1 still

SYS$SPECIFIC and SYS$COMMON not enough?Basically, the idea is that stuff specific to a given node will be in
its SYS$SPECIFIC directory and stuff common to all nodes (satellites or
not) booting from the same system disk will be in SYS$COMMON. A good
idea as far as it goes, but does it go far enough?
In particular, there are two additional categories, which I'll give the
obvious names SYS$CLUSTER and SYS$WORLD. SYS$CLUSTER would include
stuff common to all nodes in a cluster, i.e. would differ from
SYS$COMMON if there is more than one system disk in the cluster. The
obvious place for this stuff is somewhere which is not on ANY system
disk. SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGICALS.TEMPLATE provides (at least in newer
versions of VMS, starting with 7.2 I believe) a list of at least the
most common candidates among VMS system files. Add to this procedures
to mount disks in a cluster, SYLOGIN.COM etc. (Obviously, I'm thinking
of a cluster where as much as possible is shared.) SYS$WORLD, on the
other hand, would include stuff which is common to ALL VMS system disks
in the world, e.g. the executables used by VMS itself. Obviously, this
should be on EVERY system disk.
Put another way, the current SYS$COMMON is a mixture of stuff common to
all nodes which boot from that disk, stuff common to all VMS systems in
the world and, if the stuff is not located somewhere else (pointed to by
logicals in the case of VMS system files), stuff common to all nodes in
the cluster (perhaps duplicated on more than one system...

Publishing Latex using publish.mHello all,
I am trying to publish some math and m-code using MATLAB's "publish.m" function. It seems that the latex interpreter is having serious and frequent (though inconsistent) problems. Are there any particular settings that I must configure before MATLAB will allow proper interpreting of my TeX and latex strings?
As an example of the problem, I can write this short script:
%% Title of doc
% Some text. Now I'll make a table:
%
% <latex>
% \begin{tabular}{|c|c|} \hline
% $n$ & $n!$ \\ \hline
% 1 & 1 \\
% 2 & 2 \\
% 3 & 6 \\ \hline
% \end{tabular}
% </latex>
and attempt to publish it by calling: publish(<filename>). This publishes *just* the first two lines and ignores all of the latex markup that follows. No errors or warnings are given.
Next, I write a different file:
% The polynomial must pass through the ordered pairs: $(\pi/4}, \sqrt{2}/2)$
% $(3\pi/4, \sqrt{2}/2)$, $(5\pi/4, -\sqrt{2}/2)$ and $7\pi/4, -\sqrt{2}/2)$.
and publish it the same way. I get an even more perplexing result: The first TeX string is not interpreted, but then the next three ARE! I'm also offered a warning this time:
Warning: Unable to interpret TeX string

Problem loading Imp.Publisher+ files into PublisherA customer of ours has Impression Publisher PLUS V 5.13 on one computer ant
Impression Publisher V 4.13 on another.
If he tries to read has Publisher Plus documents on Publisher V 4.13 he gets
an error saying he needs a later version of Publisher!
I thought Publisher + 5.13 & Publisher 4.13 were both the latest versions,
and that they each could read each others files.
Also I have no problem here reading Pub+ 5.13 docs on 4.06 Publisher!
Any ideas why? and a fix?
n.b. I don't think the customer can/wants to copy V5.13 to the other machine
because, I can't remember why but I know there was a reason.
