Limiting bandwidth

  • Follow

Hi,

How can I limit a network bandwidth from/to particular IP address? I
need to reduce maximum transfer witnone of host to a given value (ex.
2Mbps).
Is there any standard, administrative way in Solaris? I have heard about
additional 3pty software for limiting/shapeing bandwidth on a network
interface, but in my situation it should based ony on standard system
mechanisms.

TIA,

The asnwer depends on which version of Solaris you're using.

Oh, sorry!

I'm using Solaris 8 on SunFire V120 and Sun Ultra5.

OK, with Solaris 8 you have to use Solaris Bandwidth Manager.
IIRC, recent versions of S( have similar capability built-in.
