Sun Fire v250 boot from dvd
I've searched through google but I have not found te solution...
I have a sun fire v250 server that I need to reinstall but when I put
the solaris 10 sparc dvd (original) in the dvd rom and restart the
machine it still boot from the hd. I've tried with stop-a at the bott
and then I've entered "boot cdrom -rs" at eh "{1} ok" prompt but it
say that the cdrom is not bootable (without even accessing it), but
even if I enter "eject cdrom" it say "don't know how to eject cdrom".
So how can I boot from dvd!!!
Gabriele.

You need to get into the Open Boot PROM screen and turn off "auto-boot?"
If I'm reading my manual correctly you need to do
"setenv auto-boot? false"
Do not enter the quotation marks!
"OpenBoot 3.x Command Reference Manual" Sun P/N 806-1377
"OpenBoot 3.x Quick Reference" Sun P/N 806-2908
The above manuals may have been superseded. If they are still "in
print" you should be able to download copies (free) from docs.sun.com or
purchase printed copies. If you have a nice FAST laser printer with a
duplex unit (prints both sides) you can download and print your own.
Otherwise I'd recommend purchasing the hard copy version!

no it wasn't that the problem
thanks for the help, but I've resolved the problem.
I was giving stop-a at the beginning of the boot, that's why it
doesn't word (I suppose),
so I wait till the system was up pressed stop-a and then entered boot
cdrom and this worked.

Christianity,
The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie, who was his
own father, can make you live forever if symbolically
eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept
him as your master, so he can remove an evil force
from your soul that is present in humanity because
a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake, to
eat from a magical tree.
