trunking
I'm not a Sun guy (I'm a Cisco guy), but I need to find out some info
on the gigabit trunking software from Sun, specifically if you can do
this:
SUN TRUNK #1---------------------------|
ce0-ce1 |
cisco SWITCH
SUN TRUNK #2---------------------------|
ce2-ce3
Basically, make a trunk group out of ce0 and ce1 and then another
trunk group out of ce2 and ce3. Trunk group 1 would have IP
192.168.1.1 and trunk group 2 would have IP 192.168.2.1. Etherchannel
would run on the switch (cisco switch port 1 and 2 would be on vlan 1
and ports 3 and 4 would be on vlan 2).
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

You should be able to do this without any problems as long as you
stick to the trunking rules.

- Sun Trunking 1.3 is compatible with Cisco EtherChannel and 802.3ad
in the static mode.
- 802.1A (VLAN) is supported only with the following products:
* PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC Cat5 UTP (part #: X1150A)
* PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC MMF fiber (part #: X1151A)
* PCI Adapter with two Fast Ethernet interfaces and two SCSI
interfaces (part #: x2222A)
(This means no onboard ports)
- LACP is not currently supported in Sun Trunking 1.3.
