How do you guys see future for NonStop platform

  • Follow

Dear friends,
I just wanted to get input from people in various industries using
NonStop platform. Do you think there is a push to migrate out of this
platform. Or do you see push for adopting this platform.

What are the industries which are looking at NonStop as its long term
solution and keeping up with the latest changes in platform and
adopting all the latest and cool options available with it.

How is NonStop competing with the other platform where cost cutting is
consider the main focus.

I guess we are still leader in Financial, Telecom and Healthcare
industries.

Hi all,

Regretfully, my feeling is there is a big push to migrate out of this
platform, and that has being happening at least for the last 10 years.
Migration projects use to take much more time than expected, becasuse
almost nobody (but NonStop users) is aware of what, the high
avalavility and high throughput combination, means. The problem is
that once a company hast spent a big amount of money in the migration
project, it is difficult to go back (the decission makers would be
considered guilty).

My biggest worry is that for quite a long time, I have not seen new
projects being developed under this platform.

This usenet group activity rate is another good meassure of NonStop
market health.

Regards,

Nik

Nik,
You echoed my sentiments. I am least interested in who wants to
migrate off Tandem and more interested in who is trying to adopt it
specially with new smaller server architecture and new software
technologies adoption. Are we able to compete in market with Windows
and Linux users? If yes than who are the new customers. I know its not
easy to migrate off, however that doesn't define our success. Our
success will be defined by adoption by new users. I am purely looking
from my future career point of view. If group has some information on
the new customers, new business segments, new developments than please
do share.
