Adobe and other DRM platforms too exensive: any open source alternative?

Hi there. Anyone knows an open alternative to Adobe Content Management
server or other vendors? I found nothing on Sourceforge.
I need distribute PDF articles maximizing download-it:read-it ratio
(pax for who will read the printed :)
