Adobe PDF printer: Distiller not used?

Hi,

I am using Acrobat 6 professional, Tiger 10.4.1 and Word vX (10.1.6).

Since I upgraded to Tiger, converting to PDF using the Adobe PDF 
printer, produces a larger PDF file than when I was using Panther. 
Also, it takes much longer to print.

I have saved the document to a .ps file and then dropped in on the 
Distiller, and then all works fine.

It seems as if the Distiller is either not used, or a different 
job-option (Adobe PDF settings) is used.

Has anyone seen similar behaviour, or does anyone have a solution?
