Bookmarks not working when coverting from Word to pdf

  • Follow

Hi there,

I hope someone can help.

I have a Word documetn which has a Table of contents. Each entry points
to a bookmark elsewhere in the doc. When I do a pdf conversion (Acrobat
7) 1 of the bookmarks (link 6) does not convert as a link; just get the
hand icon rather than pointer.

Then all subsequent links from 7 onwards are out by one.

All of the links work when used within MS WORD.

Any suggestions

Regards
Henry

Hard to tell whether the problem lies in Word or in the Acrobat AddIn
(and "of course", whether you ask MSFT or Adobe, both will blame the
other! :-)).

If the problem lies in Word (unlikely since you say the links work fine
there), then the hidden heading bookmarks might be a suspect. See

http://groups.google.ch/group/microsoft.public.word.formatting.longdocs/browse_frm/thread/3b5150b3e6559495/aff3f189eb241f95?lnk=st&q=TOC+bookmarks+group:*word*&rnum=1&hl=de#aff3f189eb241f95

for a discussion on how to delete those bookmark (which Word creats each
you you insert a TOC -- and fails to "garbage-collect" :-().

Hi, Henry -

I've found that sometimes the link is actually there, it's just not
quite in the right position. This is especially true if I'm using odd
line spacing.

In Acrobat, click the "Links" icon and see just where the boxes are
located on the TOC. If it's off, just move them to the right position.
