Highlighted text in Word -> PDF

I'm using Acrobat Standard v8 and Word 200, on Win XP.

PDFMaker and Distiller ignore highlighted text in Word for some reason
- even though the highlighted text prints out on my printer. So I have
to go through the resulting PDF re-highlighting all of the highlighted
text, which in a 170 page report containing nearly 100 highlights is a
nightmare. Is there any commercially available alternative to PDFMaker
that can automatically convert highlighted text in Word to highlighted
text in the resulting PDF (as well as doing all the things that
PDFMaker does do well)?
