The topic pretty much sums it up, i am have made a PDF document using
Adobe Acrobat und manually created some bookmarks. I am searching for a
way now to tell the document that the bookmark pane should
automatically show up when being viewed in Acrobat Reader.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I already did a search and found a related topic, but that was dealing
with documents created from PS files through Acrobat Distiller.

Problem solved, sorry to bother you with such trivialities.

File->Document Properties->Initial View->Show did the trick.

pdf document won't open with bookmarks open
I send pdf reports to clients and use bookmarks in the document to help them navigate. Many clients won't know this unless they see the document on their screen with the bookmarks already open. When I use \usepackage [bookmarks, bookmarksopen=true, bookmarksopenlevel=3, pdfpagelayout=TwoPageRight, pdfstartview=FitV, pdfpagemode=UseOutline, ]{hyperref} on my Mac, the document processes and opens with TeXShop just fine. When I open the doc in Preview, it's fine. But when I open it with Adobe Reader 7, the bookmarks pane is never open. Many of my clients will not know to click on the B...

Using hyperref---PDF opens with bookmarks open
I'm using the following line of code: \usepackage[pdftex,bookmarks=true,pdfborderstyle={/S/U/W 0}]{hyperref} which works fine, except the bookmarks are open when the PDF is opened. I want them closed initially. I looked through the "hyperref" PDf, but it was Greek to me. I hope someone can help. I haven't included any of the rest of the file, because I'm pretty sure this line is where the action is. I'm using the memoir class, if that sheds any light. Hope all are well, Ian -- The charge may be true, but I do not resent it, for I smoke the Arcadia Mixture, and ...

Setting Document Display Size for PDF Reader at time of PDF Creation
I use Adobe Acrobat and ScanSoft PDF Create to print documents to PDF. Some of my documents open with the view at 200%. Others open as a full page. I'd like them all to open as a full page. I haven't found an option in either program to make sure documents open as a full page in the Reader. Is there any way to control what the view defaults to in the Reader, or is this controlled solely by the Reader itself? Thanks If you are using Acrobat, File:Document Properties:Initial View lets you choose the settings to be used when viewing that document. "kimf85" <kfinleyson@g...

Perl to display a PDF document
Greetings, I'm a newbee to this area of PDFs so I apologize if I am looking for an answer in the wrong newsgroup. Problem: I need to render existing PDFs unreadable, my thought is to encrypt them. Not sure how I would do that. Basically, I have a script that will install a CD's contents onto a hard drive. In the process, the PDFs would be converted such thay they cannot be read. Next, after they are encryted, I need to change the existing references to the HTML documents to call out a script that will decrypt the encrypted PDF and display the document. Any help in this area would ...

PDF Bookmarks in OpenOffice documents
I'm starting to convert my Word documents to OpenOffice. For the most part everything has worked pretty much as expected. However one thing that's not as clean are the PDF bookmarks. Word + Acrobat strips the paragraph number when it puts headers into the bookmarks, OpenOffice includes the paragraph number. I could live with the paragraph numbers in the bookmarks but the what makes them really unpleasant looking is that there is no space between the number and the text. How do you edit the styles used in the bookmarks? I don't see separate styles listed in the styles list. Thanks,...

Garbled text displayed for PDF document
I was given a PDF document to post so people could download it and print out the flyer it contains. Some of the individuals who have pulled down the file reported that a portion of the text was garbled. For other users, the problem persists. Could ...

How to add an automatic document number to a PDF?

Printing to PDF automatically saves document 164418
When I print to a PDF using the 'Adobe PDF' printer (I think this uses Distiller), I'm prompted to save the document at the time the job prints so I give the document a meaningful name and location and all is well. However, at the same time, a copy of the document is automatically saved in the folder that the printer port was created in and has a name similar to the file from which it was printed, but with a PDF extension. Is it possible to turn off the 'auto save' document? This is only a problem because I've specified for the PDF printer port, the folder in which I...
